Wageningen Plant Research connects public, private and societal stakeholders in projects that address the complex, interconnected challenges of transforming agriculture and horticulture in such a way that we produce enough food safely and fairly within our planetary boundaries.

We are seeking highly motivated and committed researchers that can contribute to the important and interconnected research themes of biodiversity, nutrition and human health, crop protection, climate change, soil health, energy and water use, urbanisation and technological developments (data, IT, robotics, etc.).

Within Wageningen Plant Research, we work at our locations in Wageningen, but also regionally in Lelystad and Bleiswijk, on the development of new cultivation systems and on the building blocks needed for these. Important building blocks for these new sustainable cultivation systems are:

  • Healthy and resilient soils and crops
  • Functional agrobiodiversity
  • Methods for diagnostics, monitoring and decision support systems
  • Precision agriculture and horticulture, sensors and robotics
  • Nutritional value and quality of products
  • New methods of crop protection such as biological control agents
  • Models, statistical and mathematical methods, big data, Artificial Intelligence
  • Crop Growth and flowering physiology

We are seeking both researchers to carry out projects and also people with the ambition to turn ideas into projects and to lead teams. You would be joining a team of more than 600 researchers within Plant Research, 1400 scientists within Plant Sciences and more than 7000 across the whole University and Research, collectively making Wageningen a global destination for you to grow your career and fulfil your ambition.

We ask

We encourage applications from candidates with a relevant scientific education, with a PhD and/or equivalent experience in one or more of these areas.  We need people who can work collaboratively to solve the integrated challenges that exist in agriculture and horticulture; working together we can achieve more.
