Description
Seeking highly motivated individuals to spend a summer (May 8th -August 11th) monitoring health and treating whitetail fawns, does, and bucks and partaking in the general practices of running a deer farm.

-The candidate will learn how to actively assess and treat sick and injured whitetail deer in our 100-acre breeding operation. The job is daily checks on every single deer in the facility (500+), use of dart gun and tranquilizing methods, bottle feeding abandoned, injured, or sick fawns when necessary. You will be expected to work closely with staff to quickly identify and treat deer for long hours in all types of weather. You will give numerous medications orally, intramuscularly, and subcutaneously. Experience with wildlife or livestock is a must.
-Will be unsupervised at some point
-Work day is not complete until all animals have been checked and treated
-Will use chemical immobilization and physical restraint with animals
-Monitor all behavior

Qualifications
-Ability to use binoculars as a tool for health checks of animals at a distance.
-Working towards or recent graduate of wildlife related or animal science degree programs.
-Ability to give injections to animals.
-Ability to lift 50+ pound animals in emergencies.
-Willingness to learn and adapt to our treatment protocols.
-Not a good fit for people with hemophobia or fear of needles
-Willingness to learn operation of large machinery without supervision
-Power tool usage
-Must be available from start date until end date
-Adherence to all safety guidelines
-Comfortable or experiences working with air powered rifles
-Able to do dose calculations quickly and accurately
-Proficient/organized at record keeping
-Adaptive and able to follow instructions
-Able to be hands on with animals, disease, and infections
