Position Summary Information

Job Description Summary The Social Media Assistant will be responsible for planning and implementing a social media strategy and enhancing our social media marketing efforts. This position will also develop and create solid content to attract the target audience and constantly be thinking out of the box to improve our website and social media presence as well as increase traffic.
Leader/mentors/tutors are the heart of our program. They ensure that our children feel welcome and safe through their daily interactions with each child under their care. They have a special opportunity to transform the life of a child while engaging them in a variety of fun, extracurricular activities such as homework help, performing arts, fine arts, digital video media, cooking, and all sports. Our Youth Mentors may also gain valuable experience developing professional skills and program planning experience. Youth Mentors foster a commitment to the youth, as they promote good educational habits, strong interpersonal skills and a sense of empowerment through activities. Our goal is to motivate students to find their own personal and positive path in life.
Responsibilities Social Media Assistant:

  • Planning and executing social media strategies
  • Writing creative and engaging content
  • Create and schedule social media posts
  • Create ideas for spotlight campaigns, specific programs, and events
  • Monitor social campaigns

Youth Tutor/Mentor:

  • Facilitate games, sports, art, crafts, and activities with children
  • Supervise while playing with children on the playground equipment & during activities
  • Teach children to use computers and computer games
  • Read aloud to children, encourage them to read by themselves
  • Organize areas before programs
  • Responsible for the emotional and physical safety of children
  • Work collaboratively with other staff
  • Support the goals, spirit, and mission of Higher Ground
  • Promote Jackie Robinson’s Nine Core Values: courage, determination, teamwork, persistence, integrity, citizenship, justice, commitment, and excellence
Required Qualifications Social Media Assistant:

  • Strong written communication skills
  • Ability to plan and execute social media strategies
  • Creative and knowledgeable re social media trends and preferred content to attract donors and members alike
  • Strong team player

Youth Tutor/Mentor:

  • Strong oral communication skills
  • Experience working with grades 2 through 8 preferred
  • Passionate about working with youth and creating positive experiences
  • Ability to plan, lead, organize and implement program activities
  • Ability to work as a member of a team as well as accomplish tasks on your own
