Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Under the direction of the Global Direct Marketing Manager – Retention, the purpose of the Global Direct Marketing Executive is to support and execute the retention and acquisition activities of the Direct Marketing team, ensuring the delivery of high-quality user experiences that deliver a great return on investment.
You will support traditional offline marketing activities such as direct mail by checking and assisting with creative design, copy and content, aligning propositions and themes across other channels, building beautiful pages and emails that are optimised for conversion and working closely with the production team to ensure deadlines are met. You will also support digital acquisition activities such as paid social media advertising and lead generation through the creation of landing pages and automated email welcome journeys.
As part of the Global Direct Marketing team, the Global Direct Marketing Executive contributes to the digital marketing and fundraising needs across the entire fundraising program, including local market activity. This will include:
Executing direct marketing campaigns and reporting:
- Support and execute the global direct marketing strategy, including assisting with aspects of donor acquisition and retention programs, including cash appeals, regular giving, and the Sponsor a Bear, Gifts for the Bears and The Bear Rescue Team products.
- In collaboration with the Global Acquisition Campaign Manager and Global Direct Marketing Manager – Retention build, test and set live fundraising donation, petition and landing pages on the Engaging Networks and Fundraise Up platforms.
- Work with the Global Acquisition Campaign Manager, Global Direct Marketing Manager – Retention and the Design Team to design, build, test and deploy warm emails to donors using the Engaging Networks platform.
- Assist the Global Direct Marketing Manager – Retention in researching topics and content, including researching stories and requesting stories from Programs Teams.
- Assist the Global Direct Marketing Manager – Retention with preparing marketing, design, photography and copy briefs.
- Liaise with external agencies and assist the Global Direct Marketing Manager – Retention in obtaining stakeholder feedback and approvals and working to resolve any roadblocks or issues.
- Attending regular status meetings to ensure projects are meeting deadlines.
- Be responsible for any ad hoc direct marketing projects and campaigns.
- Ensure all digital content is relevant, optimised and can be tracked and measured effectively using relevant tagging and UTM parameters.
- Work with the Data Insights Manager and Direct Marketing team to automate email journeys across the fundraising program (new cash and regular donors, petition and pledge signers and so on).
- Work with in-house translators to ensure web pages and emails are fully translated and relevant for all local markets.
- Work collaboratively to ensure direct marketing campaigns are briefed into the relevant stakeholders ahead of implementation.
- Work collaboratively with the Direct Marketing and Communications teams to improve and streamline internal content libraries and filing.
- Look for ways to improve efficiencies, either through processes or ways of working.
- Keep up to date with industry trends and best practices for direct mail, email and web and donation pages. Periodically undertake competitor analysis.
Data and Administration:
- Work with the Data Insights Manager to prepare reports (both bespoke and regular) for direct marketing activity.
- Use Tableau reports to ensure marketing activity is tracking against KPIs, to collate email metrics and keep the wider team abreast of results.
- Lead on social media monitoring with external agency, including working collaboratively across departments to produce and update FAQs.
General:
- Proactive attendance at team meetings, relevant seminars and wider staff meetings.
- Proactive in keeping abreast of new direct marketing developments on relevant online and offline platforms as necessary.
- Represent Animals Asia at internal and external functions and events as required.
Person Specification
Experience, training & qualifications:
Essential:
- At least one year’s experience of working in direct marketing, ideally in the charitable Sector.
- A proactive approach to working on tasks and activities.
- Research skills and the ability to synthesise and present information.
- Ability to prioritise and meet deadlines.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent ability to project-manage multiple campaigns, whilst maintaining exceptional attention to detail and remaining results driven to achieve targets.
- The ability to exercise initiative and to improve and enhance existing systems and procedures (quality assurance).
- The ability to effectively plan and prioritise work to meet deadlines, and to work calmly under pressure.
- Demonstrated ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Proven ability to work well under pressure.
- Willingness and ability to work early/late flexible hours (due to the global nature of the role) and occasionally on weekends.
- Commitment to the objectives of the organisation.
- Well-presented, articulate and polite.
- Excellent command of English language (verbal and written).
- Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and comply with privacy requirements.
- A passion for animal welfare and protection.
- Posses passion, commitment and an understanding of direct marketing best practices.
Desirable:
- Experience of working with digital platforms and content management systems.
- Experience of digital marketing, ideally on Meta platforms (Facebook and Instagram).
- Experience of building, testing and sending emails.
- Experience of fundraising copywriting.
- Experience of automating sophisticated and personalized email journeys.
- Experience of communication and project management platforms Slack and Monday.
- Experience of fundraising platforms Engaging Networks and Fundraise Up.
- Experience of Blackbaud CRM and Blackbaud Internet Solutions (BBIS).
- Experience of working on traditional offline channels such as direct mail.
Communication / interpersonal skills:
- Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Google Suite products.
- Strong people skills with a high level of organisational awareness and demonstrated ability to liaise with a broad and diverse range of stakeholders.
- Be flexible, adaptable and people-oriented with a strong supporter care focus.
- Excellent understanding of digital marketing and fundraising principles.

Conditions and Benefits
- Place of work: Home-based (Global).
- Working hours: Full-time. Standard hours are 37.5 hours per week from 9am to 5pm. Monday to Friday with a 30-minute unpaid lunch break.
- You will be required to work such additional hours as are necessary to fulfil your role which may include evenings and weekends. You will be expected to manage your hours, responsibilities and workload accordingly.

- Budget responsibility: n/a.
- Probation: 6 months.
- Annual leave: Commensurate with the country of residence. The holiday year runs from January 1st to December 31st.
