Franklin University, located in Columbus, Ohio, is seeking part-time adjunct faculty to teach Surgical Technology courses. These 12-week courses will be taught online in Fall, Spring, and Summer terms.
HEA 1012 Intro to Surgical Technologist I
Surgical Technology is a comprehensive course with insight and focuses on the role of the Surgical Technologist. The course provides foundational knowledge required of clinical allied healthcare professionals. Emphasis is placed on preoperative and related knowledge. This course includes topics related to infection control, the use of personal protective equipment, sterile technique, decontamination and sterilization standards, and surgical instrumentation and equipment. It also addresses surgical pharmacology and aspects of medical law related to the healthcare setting.
HEA 1022 Intro to Surgical Technologist II
Surgical Technology is a comprehensive course with insight and focuses on the role of the Surgical Technologist. The course provides foundational knowledge required of clinical allied healthcare professionals. Emphasis is placed on intraoperative and postoperative duties and related knowledge. This course includes topics related to infection control, the use of personal protective equipment, sterile technique, decontamination and sterilization standards, and surgical instrumentation and equipment. It also addresses surgical pharmacology, aspects of medical law related to the healthcare setting, support of the operative patient, and safety in the operating room.
Requirements for these positions include a Master’s degree in a healthcare field with a current certification as a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) sponsored by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) with at least one year of work experience as a surgical technologist.
Previous teaching in higher education is strongly preferred.
