Job Description

Purpose:

The Assistant Program Director will assist the Associate Director of Workforce Development Conferences and Events in planning, supporting, and managing conference efforts for Texas A&M Engineering and Texas A&M Engineering Experiment Station as well as supporting day-to-day activities, and developing and implementing procedures for the administration of the program. The Workforce Development department is consistently growing and adding new positions.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the coordination efforts of conferences and symposia for engineering, TEES centers, and college departments
  • Assist in scheduling and securing venue and logistical support for events.
  • Establish and manage all conference events within the event management system
  • Assist in calculating budgets for conferences and ensure conferences adhere to the budgets.
  • Create and update conference webpages in accordance with clients’ needs and in adherence with Texas A&M University policies.
  • Maintain comprehensive data on conferences in accordance with program needs and assists with yearly reporting requirements
  • Assist in direction of planning, organization and management of day-to-day activities, developing and implementing procedures for the administration of the program
  • Assist in developing strategic plans and goals to support the program.
  • Assist with the development and production of materials designed for the program.
  • Oversee the management of a team of program specialists (two direct reports)
  • Represent Texas A&M Engineering to vendors, clients, and service providers to create and maintain partnerships
  • Performs other duties as assigned

What we need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Six years of related experience.

  • Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal, leadership, problem solving, and organizational skills.
  • Maintains attention to detail and utilizes sound judgment.
  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.

About Workforce Development

The Workforce Development Division of Texas A&M Engineering will be the premier provider of programs, conferences, professional development, and educational opportunities to prepare experts, employees and advocates for STEM-related fields. The Workforce Development Division has six programs: Spark! PK-12 Engineering Education Outreach, Nuclear Power Institute, Engineering Academies, TEES EDGE Professional Education, Regional Divisions, Conference Planning Services. Through these programs, the division creates and coordinates opportunities worldwide to hone expertise among engineering professionals and train or retrain those interested in emerging engineering fields while concurrently engaging with PK-collegiate educators and students to encourage future engineers.
