The Hemophilia and Thrombosis Treatment Center (HTTC) is a federally funded and designated center to care for patients with inherited bleeding and thrombotic disorders. The program serves the greater San Diego area and provides comprehensive medical care that includes physical therapy and social work services. The program comprises various components that include clinical care, community outreach, clinical and translational research and a federally supported 340b clotting factor dispensing program.

The Administrative Assistant is the front-facing representative of our clinic in person and on the phone. Provides high-quality patient care and support to the HTTC. Serves as a key resource for the coordination, administration, organization, and patient care of the HTTC. Responsible for other administrative duties as assigned, including patient scheduling coordination, answering phone calls, cash drawer maintenance, and coordination of office operations. Responsible for patient registration, referrals, insurance authorizations, patient adherence and enrollment to stated funded programs.

  • Three (3) years previous related experience in a large complex healthcare setting.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of third party payors including federal, state, and private health plans.

  • Demonstrated computer skills and be able to work between multiple systems during calls.

  • Ability to work in an interactive environment and possess excellent customer service skills both in person and over phone. Be able to maintain strict confidentiality. Have excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing.

  • Be a self-starter who is accountable, open to new ideas, creative, and flexible.

  • Demonstrated ability to work in a large, complex organization. Possess the personal characteristics of professionalism, credibility, commitment to high standards, innovation, discriminating judgment and accountability.

  • Highly preferred bilingual Spanish.
  • Healthcare experience.
  • Experience using EPIC Cadence.
  • Experience using FinancialLink, TravelLink, and BLINK.
  • Knowledge of medical/scientific terminology.
  • Knowledge of UC policies and procedures regarding pre- and postaward, purchasing, pay authorization, travel, and entertainment expensereimbursement.
  • Must be able to work various hours and locations (including weekends and evenings) based on business needs.
  • Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $53,077 – $65,960 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $25.42 – $31.59

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
