Title of Assignment: Communication consultant

1. Context
The World Intellectual Property Organization recognizes the importance of creating a work environment where individuals in all their diversity contribute with their talents and full identities to an inspiring and transformative vision of a world where intellectual property promotes innovation and creativity for the good of everyone.
2. Objectives
With this in mind, WIPO is looking for the support of a consultant to develop an internal engagement campaign and related communication strategy to:
a. Reinforce and reaffirm WIPO’s values and commitment related to diversity, inclusion and staff wellbeing;
b. Engage with personnel on the topics specified in point a;
c. Raise awareness of the interconnectedness of different diversity and wellbeing dimensions.
3. Deliverables
Working closely with the Employee Experience Unit within the Human Resources Development Department and in close collaboration with the News and Media Division, Staff Counsellor and other relevant teams within WIPO, the contractor will deliver the following products:
1. Design an internal engagement campaign to be rolled out over a 12-month period, to foster awareness and focusing on specific diversity, inclusion and wellbeing messages selected on the basis of available qualitative and quantitative insights.
- The campaign must be supported by a communication strategy that includes: context analysis, objectives, target audience, communication channels, key messages, budget and implementation plan.
- The campaign must be aligned with WIPO existing strategic priorities on communication. The branding will include a title and slogan(s).
- The campaign must take into account the priorities set out in the WIPO HR Strategy, WIPO Disability Inclusion Strategy, WIPO Policy on Gender Equality and other relevant strategic document.
- The campaign must be adapted to WIPO’s multilingual and multicultural environment. It should be multi-format, to be used by audience both on-line and in-person, and must include accessible visual, video and audio products targeting a global, diverse audience.
- The campaign may combine global and targeted messages which focus on specific, defined demographic groups identified as priority. Several formats of engagement may be developed for each demographic group.
- The campaign must include a hybrid launch event, in line with its strategic priorities.
2. Develop feedback mechanisms to monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the messages and their ability to generate awareness, exchanges and a sense of belonging and acceptance among personnel. The feedback mechanism may use existing or new tools and will provide direction for adjustments.
3. Prepare a final report analyzing overall impact, challenges and potential adaptations needed to increase impact and scale in the future.
3. Reporting
The Contractor will report to the Gender and Diversity Specialist within the Human Resources Development Department.
4. Profile
– At least seven years of relevant professional experience in the field of communications with a proven record in designing engagement and communications campaigns for organizations on diversity, inclusion, wellbeing and belonging;
– Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English;
– Highly sophisticated in delivering sensitive messages in a culturally appropriate manner to help build understanding and empathy in the Organization;
– Ability to think creatively, and strong verbal and written communication skills.
– Ability to present complex information in a clear, effective and impactful manner, drawing on different communication methods to influence clients, partners and other stakeholders;
– Knowledge of/willingness to pick up basic knowledge about WIPO;
– Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to maintain effective partnerships and working relations in a multi-cultural environment with sensitivity and respect for diversity;
– Previous experience in organizing and managing events and/or social cause-related projects with UN Agencies or international organizations is an asset;
5. Duration of contract and payment
The duration of the contract will be from 30 April 2024 to 31 December 2024.
The Contractor will be paid after submission of each deliverable.
