The Opportunity

The College of Human Ecology (CHE) at Cornell University seeks a visionary student experience professional to lead our already outstanding student experience functions to be a world-class model in higher education. This position will support the College of Human Ecology’s Dean in focusing intensely on the student experience, from admissions to graduation, and at all points in between.

What You Will Do

  • Lead efforts to promote student well-being, comprehensive student engagement and professional development programing, assessment of student outcomes using data from admission to graduation and beyond.

  • Lead efforts to nurture relationships among the students and faculty, mentor and create opportunities for growth and development for the staff.

  • Manage the office budget.

  • Serve as an inventive and creative leader of our student experience team.

  • Partner with the University across all aspects of the student experience and leverage a data-driven approach to make informed decisions about program needs, vision and goals.

  • Work closely with faculty, staff and Dean as well as university partners, and have a global view, a deep understanding of and appreciation for diversity and inclusion, and a keen understanding of student experience best practices, metrics, and outcomes.

Required Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree and a minimum of 10+ years of experience in higher education leading student experience functions, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Ability to inspire employees, build teams and effective working relationships, and lead individuals and groups successfully toward goal completion.

  • Demonstrated visionary knowledge in student development and engagement.

  • Deep and dedicated commitment to diversity, inclusion, and student wellbeing.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of higher education environment and trends.

  • Highly developed skills in leadership, management, strategy, marketing, and communication.

  • Exemplary interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively collaborate, network and develop relationships.

  • Enthusiasm for leading a creative team of student experience professionals to develop a exemplary model for the student experience and wellbeing.

  • Demonstrated experience using statistics and metrics for informing success in student experience.

  • Ability to sustain institutional principles and values, ethical workplace practices, confidentiality, and academic integrity.

  • Demonstrated experience using and implementing cutting edge technology to improve effectiveness in the areas of the student experience.

  • A positive, inspiring, and high-energy approach to engaging with Human Ecology students and faculty.  

  • Experience in and/or demonstrated commitment to supporting diversity, equity, access, inclusion, and wellbeing.

This is a full-time, regular position that can be performed up to 2 days remote, and 3 days on Cornell’s Ithaca campus in Martha Van Rensselaer Hall.  Remote workdays will be mutually determined between you and your supervisor.
