Under the supervision of the Education Specialist, and additional guidance from the Chief of Field Office and the Education team in Suva, the Education Specialist (Early Childhood Development) based in Pohnpei, FSM will support the development and preparation of the Education and ECD programme and is responsible for managing, implementing, monitoring, evaluating and reporting progress within the multi-country programme.
The Specialist will be required to provide technical guidance and management support throughout the programming processes to facilitate the administration and achievement of results on education programmes/projects to improve learning outcomes and equitable and inclusive education, as well as holistic early childhood development especially for children who are marginalized, disadvantaged and excluded in society within the North Pacific.
The Education Specialist also contributes to the achievement of results according to plans, allocation, results based-management approaches and methodology, as well as UNICEF’s Strategic Plans, standards of performance, and accountability framework.

Education:
Education:
- An advanced university degree in one of the following fields is required: education, economics, psychology, sociology, public health, or another relevant technical field.
Work experience:
- A minimum of five years of professional experience in programme planning, management, and/or research in education and in early childhood development related areas is required.
- Experience working in a developing country is considered as an asset.
- Relevant experience in a UN system agency or organization is considered as an asset.
Languages:
- Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of the local language is considered as an asset.
