About the role

Multicultural Australia is currently offering an opportunity for an experienced Fundraising and Philanthropy Manager to work as part of our Community Development team. The role is Full-time, permanent role in Brisbane.

The Fundraising and Philanthropy Manager will deliver Multicultural Australia’s Fundraising and Philanthropy Strategy, in pursuit of the establishment of Multicultural Australia as a beneficiary of choice for individual and community fundraising. This role, serving as a key provider of fundraising expertise, guidance, and strategic insight, will foster close collaboration with key stakeholders and cultivate, solicit, and steward Multicultural Australia’s campaigns, donors and prospects.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Establish, launch, and manage core fundraising programs to deliver sustainable income and grow philanthropic funding in support of Multicultural Australia’s operations.

  • Drive a digital acquisition program and oversee the processing and administration of a regular giving program to ensure best practice donor care.
  • Collaborate across the organisation and with advocates to identify prospective opportunities for transformative giving and other donor types i.e. Bequests, Gifts in Wills, and Major Gifts.
  • Establish and co-ordinate systems and processes relating to peer-to-peer fundraising, community fundraising, and workplace giving.
  • Deliver major Appeals/Digital fundraising activations (including managing external relationships with consultants).

Establish a donor base through the acquisition of new supporters and renewal of current and past supporters.

  • Identify, understand, and engage with Multicultural Australia’s donor constituency, by growing relationships with community, and leveraging established connections to engage people as advocates and connectors.
  • Make recommendations for fundraising processes and policies with respect to best practice donor acquisition, care, and retention to increase longevity and value of support.

Measure and report on fundraising activity.

  • Create a fundraising calendar and a register of gifting opportunities aligned with the event calendar and key community dates.
  • Develop program metrics and measurement processes to record results to establish baseline performance for Acquisition and Upgrading.
  • Measure traffic, conversion, donor experience and average gifts, and prepare in-depth analysis, interpretation, and application of data to inform business decisions.

Support the development of a culture of philanthropy across the organisation.

  • Develop an understanding across the teams that everyone in the organisation’s community (not just fundraisers) has a role and responsibility to tell the Multicultural Australia story.
  • Support a process or organisation capacity building with respect to the understanding of fundraising principles and how their decisions and actions can impact the success of fundraising efforts.

Other duties as directed and specified by the Senior Manager, Strategic Growth.

About you

The successful candidate will be a strong communicator, who is willing to take the initiative and work collaboratively with colleagues, in a fast-paced environment. They will be willing to adapt and learn and commit to Multicultural Australia’s values as outlined in our Strategic Plan:

Essential:

  • Five or more years relevant experience across multiple fundraising and philanthropy streams.
  • Experience in working with a customer relationship management database.
  • Demonstrated experience in establishing fundraising programs.
  • Outstanding networking and relationship cultivation and management skills with demonstrated capacity to build and maintain strategic and mutually beneficial relationships with new and existing partners, funders, donors, and key stakeholders.
  • Excellent cross-cultural communication, diplomacy, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate with confidence and tact with a range of professional staff, volunteers, and partners.

Desirable:

  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Australia’s multicultural landscape.
  • Experience in managing fundraising programs in the not-for-profit or community sector.
  • Membership with a relevant professional body (or be working towards) such as the Fundraising Institute of Australia (FIA).

Prerequisites:

  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline (Fundraising, Philanthropy, social impact)
  • Police Check
  • Driving Licence
