About the position
Faculty of Nursing and Health Sciences (FSH), Nord University, Norway, invites applications from outstanding candidates for a three-year PhD position in vocational education focusing on pedagogy in nursing. It may also be possible with a four-year position with 25 % teaching load.
The PhD fellow will work on the project “Hypotheses as an element of deep learning of problem-solving processes in simulation-based learning in nursing studies” (“HyDeProSim-Nurse”).
Due to the rapid technological development in recent years, simulation-based teaching-learning environments using high fidelity simulators (e.g. Lærdal: Sim Man 3G, Nursing Anne) have become an integral part of Norwegian nursing education. To be able to use existing and future technologies in simulation-based learning in nursing education in a pedagogically and didactically more valuable way, more precise knowledge of problem-solving skills as a central result of deep learning in nursing is required. It is assumed that working with hypotheses is an elementary component of deep learning of problem-solving skills. New findings on deep learning can help to explain why problem-solving skills are learned in a certain way. The findings of the PhD-project can provide a basis for designing simulation-based teaching-learning processes in nursing studies that are more goal-oriented and competence-enhancing.
The successful candidate will be part of the academic division Healthcare innovation, collaboration and leadership (EHIL).
As a PhD candidate, you will:
- participate in a structured program with doctoral courses, article writing, and scientific conferences and seminars
- have the opportunity to go on research stays at foreign universities
- receive guidance and support from experienced supervisors and researchers
Employment in the position requires an application for admission to the PhD in Science of Professions at the Faculty of Nursing and Health Sciences. The thesis is preferably written in English.
The position is to be located in Stokmarknes, Bodø or Levanger. It is assumed that you are present and available at the office location on a daily basis.
