Manages and facilitates the administration of pre- and post-award sponsorship activities, collaborating internally and externally to obtain external funding for the university

Essential Job Functions

  • Cultivates relationships with faculty and staff and collaborates to identify projects and programs that may align with the university’s strategic priorities and show potential to attract external funding
  • Collaborates with the Provost office, and other university departments, to identify and recommend external sponsorship opportunities
  • Collaborates with faculty and staff to conceptualize and oversee the preparation of sponsorship proposals
  • Identifies sponsors whose grantmaking priorities align with institutionally approved projects and programs
  • Collaborates with other university departments to implement, disseminate and maintain compliance with legal regulations and university policies and procedures related to pursuing and administering external sponsorships
  • Collaborates with Advancement personnel on developing strategies and approaches to attract foundation sponsors
  • Collaborates with other university departments to submit sponsorship proposals and reporting to funding organizations
  • Monitors reporting deadlines and requirements to maintain timely completion and submission of sponsorship reports
  • Tracks sponsorship proposal submissions and results
  • Serves as the primary liaison with external grant consultants and consortium representatives
  • Assists faculty in developing relationships and communicating with sponsors
  • Serves on university committees
  • Prepares and monitors departmental budget
  • Supervises and develops the department staff, facilitating professional opportunities to improve individual capability and managing performance against job accountabilities, department goals and established university, campus and department policies and procedures
  • Performs other duties as assigned


Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree
  • Moderate amount of experience working in research or grant administration, grant writing or other related experience
