The Department of Food and Resource Economics (IFRO) at the Faculty of SCIENCE, University of Copenhagen is looking for one hourly paid student assistant (max 10 hours/week) with an interest in development issues starting 1st May 2024 or as soon as possible thereafter.

About us
The student assistant will be employed in the Global Development section. The section engages in inter-disciplinary research on economic, political, environmental, and institutional dynamics in low-income and Arctic countries. Research areas include issues of livelihoods, small-scale industry, trade, and labour; of climate change mitigation and adaptation; of forest and natural resource management; of resource conflicts and land grabbing; and of governance, state formation, and corruption. The section constitutes 10 permanent staff, 5-6 post docs/assistant professors and 8-10 PhD students and engages in inter-disciplinary research on economic, political, environmental, and institutional dynamics in developing and post-colonial societies.

Job description
The hourly paid student assistant will under supervision from experienced researchers undertake the following tasks:

  • Registration, digitization, and filing of research
  • Simple analysis of data
  • Smaller writing assignments
  • Help with photo-copying and other practical tasks
  • Practical help with seminars and other events

Qualifications
Applicants should preferably be studying within the fields of geography, forestry, development studies, economics, biology or related with good results and good English skills. Some experience with quantitative and qualitative analysis would be beneficial.

Terms of employment
Employment is as hourly paid Student FU. Employment is made in accordance with the Collective Agreement between the Danish Ministry of Taxation and the Organisations of Public Employees – governmental institutions (the OAO-S collective agreement) and under the Professional Agreement for clerical employees, laboratory technicians and it officers in the state. The minimum wage is DKK 132,68 (1 October 2023-level). Salary will be based on seniority.

The place of work is IFRO, Rolighedsvej 23, 1958 Frederiksberg C.

The average number of working hours will be up to 10 hours per week, and the working schedule is flexible.

Remuneration is based solely on the actual number of hours worked, and you are not guaranteed a fixed number of hours.

It is a prerequisite for enployment that you are enrolled as an active student at a higher education institution. Employment as hourly paid student assistant can totally maximum be for 6 years.
