Bolton & Menk has a great opportunity for a seasonal Cultural Resources Technician to join our team in Burnsville! This is a seasonal, no-benefits position April 2024 – December 2024.
What you will be doing:
– Assists archaeological field crew in surveys and other archaeological investigation as directed.
– Assists archaeological field crew in excavation as directed.
– Assists cultural resources monitoring crew in monitoring coverage and coordination with construction and subcontractor staff as directed.
– Assists with analyzing, accessioning, and curation of artifacts.
– Responsible for producing clear and concise notes and documentation on work conducted.
– Assists with and/or develops cultural resources reports for review at the direction of senior cultural resources staff.
– During the field season, travel will be necessitated by project workload; out of town stays may be necessitated for extended periods.
– During field season, hours will be dictated by survey needs (often 8 – 10 hour days) and construction monitoring needs (often 10 – 12 hour days).
What we are looking for:
– Bachelor’s degree in Anthropology or Archaeology from an accredited college or university or a closely related field.
– Has completed or is currently enrolled in an Academic Archaeological Field School.
– Knowledgeable of Midwest (Minnesota preferred) prehistory, diagnostic artifact types, and historic period.
– Ability to read and interpret USGS topographic map and aerial photos.
– Ability to traverse through difficult terrain, be outside in all weather for extended periods of time.
– Ability to use a compass and have general map reading skills.
– Preferred knowledge of GPS navigation.
– Possess valid driver’s license.
