Project: As a Senior Commercial Manager in Rail you will be responsible for the management of commercial aspects of a project in the Derby area (agile working). You will be supporting pre-contract, operations, managing commercial risk and opportunity, ensuring accuracy of forecasts and that all commercial reporting procedures are adhered to.

Supporting the delivery of projects providing pre award, procurement and post award contract administration support, monitoring compliance with contract obligations and driving value from the supply chain.

Provision of a “cradle to grave” commercial function for all work packages making up the commission.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting feasibility studies, advising on procurement strategies and contract selection, writing and undertaking procurement reports. Applying the value management techniques at the outset of a project.
  • Managing, estimating and cost planning activities to include taking ownership of and presenting the final cost plan.
  • Ensuring that final accounts are negotiated and agreed.
  • Being a key interface with client, stakeholders and other consultants at all project stages.
  • Handling of contractual frameworks and standard form of contract.
  • Identifying and acting upon opportunities to improve cost management procedures, templates, products and hence improve the services provided to the clients.
  • Identifying and acting upon ways to improve internal systems and processes.

About you

You have a degree in quantity surveying/cost management or equivalent along with previous experience in a cost/commercial consultancy practice in a similar role and experience working with rail projects / frameworks.

You are digitally savvy, can build lasting client relationships and lead strong, motivated teams. You will have a construction or project management background and be hungry to grow your career and enjoy the opportunities Mace has to offer
