Job Description

This position will support The Ohio State University’s medical center wide digital accessibility compliance program. Under general direction, in support of Ohio State’s disability inclusion initiatives, the analyst will provide expertise to the medical center community on acquisition, development, and implementation of digital information and digital services, including documents, multimedia, websites, web and native applications. They will provide advice and consultation to medical center units, vendors, and other parties as appropriate, in interpreting, understanding, and applying applicable policy and standards for accessibility including the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG), Accessible Rich Internet Applications (WAI-ARIA), Authoring Tool Accessibility Guidelines, etc. They will also participate in ensuring processes, procedures, and plans for compliance with the Digital Accessibility Policy are being effectively implemented and be responsible for ongoing program development and reassessment. They will, under direct supervision from the OSU ADA office,  address complaints under the Digital Accessibility Policy from Faculty, Staff, Students, Program Participants, and members of the general public and participate in their resolution. They will draft reports to monitor and summarize all program resources as well as metrics of projects and deliverables. They will continually seek awareness and understanding of emerging accessible development practices, industry trends, and assistive technologies as they relate to health care.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience and 6 years of relevant experience such as:  Experience testing for and remediation of accessibility barriers in web, mobile, native applications, multimedia and documents (like Word, PDF, Powerpoint). Experience working with developers to guide development of accessible user interfaces. Experience in regulatory compliance. Also, significant knowledge of current and emerging accessible development practice and assistive technology; fluency with disability law and regulation in the higher education context; ability to do a manual digital accessibility test for websites and software; familiar with what a Voluntary Product Accessibility Template (VPAT) is and how to interpret one provided by a vendor.
