Your new team

Orygen Specialist Program, a program of The Royal Melbourne Hospital, pro0vides mental health services to young people aged 15-25 and their families/carers in Melbourne’s northwest and western suburbs.

The Orygen Continuing Care Team in Sunshine and Wyndham provide access to outpatient community care by a multidisciplinary team ensuring comprehensive, collaborative and coordinated care.

Your new role

In this role, you will offer support to families, friends and carers of young people in the Wyndham and Melton areas. In this role, you will also:

  • Draw on your Lived Experience of supporting your family member/significant other and offer empathetic listening, providing peer support and information
  • Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team and provide lived experience specific values and perspective
  • Have a broad understanding of the differing perspectives of the impact of mental illness health on families/carers and the community
  • Provide inclusive and sensitive practice to young people and their families/carers from Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander, CALD and LGBTQIA+ backgrounds

About you

  • Personal lived experience as a family, carer or supporter of someone who has accessed public mental health services, preferably a youth mental health service.
  • Are determined to make a difference to the health outcomes for young people.
  • Qualifications/training in mental health are desirable but not essential.
