Who We Are:
The Registrar will join the Office of Admissions, Student Services, and Career Management team in the Jeb E. Brooks School of Public Policy, as they build out its enrollment and registration processes.
The Cornell Jeb E. Brooks School of Public Policy harnesses the University’s broad disciplinary excellence in public policy, along with its innovative teaching, research, and engagement programs, to solve pressing global challenges. The school’s prestigious faculty apply an interdisciplinary and problem-oriented focus to wide-ranging public policy issues as they explore how government choices intersect with people’s lives. The school’s initial areas of focus are data science and technology policy, environmental and sustainability policy, health policy, global security, inequality and social policy, the politics and economics of development, and race, racism, and public policy.
What You Will Do:
This new position will report to the Brooks School’s Assistant Dean of Enrollment and Student Services and will oversee enrollment and registration communications and procedures for approximately 700 active students.
In this position, you will direct a diverse set of administrative functions that reside within the Office of the Registrar in the Jeb E. Brooks School of Public Policy, including but not limited to: communications about college academic and teaching policies; the assignment of space for instruction; and reporting systems for student and instructional data. This position involves extensive teamwork and collaboration with people holding leadership positions within and beyond the Brooks School of Public Policy. This position also involves extensive engagement with students, faculty, and staff.

   

Key responsibilities for the Registrar will include:

  • Provide strategic and day-to-day oversight of the registrar function for the Jeb E. Brooks School of Public Policy. Oversee enrollment and registration communications and procedures for approximately 700 active students.
  • Develop an administrative structure, organization, and processes for the Brooks School Registrar’s Office.
  • Work with the University Registrar, Office of Enrollment Compliance and Design, and the Office of Institutional Research and Planning in support of system integrations and implementation of all new approved programs & degrees.
  • Interpret and ensure compliance with University-wide policies, and state and federal laws and regulations related to students’ academic records.
  • Serve as the college officer for student (undergraduate and graduate) and instructional records.
  • Support the Assistant Dean for Enrollment and Student Services in all issues related to student academic progress and program implementation.
  • Train and supervise school staff in the use of record keeping systems and in providing quality services to undergraduates and graduate students.
  • Provide professional and personalized service to students that may involve difficult and sensitive situations.
  • Serve as ex-officio member of the Committee on Academic Status and carry out duties as requested by the Committee Chair. Evaluate and approve transfer credit, and act on petitions related to degree requirements and college policies.
  • Facilitate new program review and implementation with school leadership and the Office of Institutional Research and Planning.
  • Communicate and interpret policies to students and faculty members related to degree requirements and progress to degree.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 3 to 5 years relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience related to student information systems, reporting, and degree audit.
  • Ability to quickly learn college requirements, procedures, and systems quickly.
  • Proven supervisory, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills and experience.
  • Excellent oral and written communication, interpersonal and organizational skills. Ability to work independently, collaborate effectively, take initiative, and follow through on responsibilities.
  • Ability to handle highly sensitive and confidential information.
  • Familiarity with Excel, PeopleSoft, and Salesforce.
  • Ability to handle sensitive situations with compassion, respect, and integrity.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of Cornell University. Expertise with Salesforce, PeopleSoft, 25Live, Word, and Excel are desirable.
  • M.S. in student services preferred.
