Employment Classification: regular, ½-time employee, with potential for full-time based on funding
Compensation: Starting hourly rate is $22-26, depending on qualifications and experience. Benefits include paid holidays and PTO.
Qualifications:
- Commitment to natural resource conservation practices and goals.
- Ability to develop cooperative working relationships and communicate effectively with diverse audiences and conservation district board members.
- Ability to work independently to carry out projects, meet timelines and budgets, and produce reports.
- Ability to use business/office and data collections software
- Access online applications.
- Willingness to receive additional educational training and adhere to government required office security and cyber workplace policies.
- Must be able to pass a Federal Government background check and qualify for government clearance.
- Ability to work outdoors and traverse natural terrain requiring agility and to carry 50 lbs.
- Alaska Drivers License or ability to obtain one upon employment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in natural resources, environmental planning, sustainable development, agriculture, food systems, forestry, agronomy, botany, forestry or equivalent experience and course work.
- Experience in public administration, business, or nonprofit management,
- Knowledge of federal and state legislation, programs, rules, and policies relevant to Conservation Districts and natural resource conservation.
- Basic knowledge of and skill using GIS and GPS software
- Supervisory experience.
Work Duties:
- administration of current grant projects, (fish passage structures, invasive weed control, outreach and eduction.
- development on new grant applicaitons
- working with federal agencies in the inventory and assesment of natural resource concerns
- fostering existing and new relationships with both private and public land owners.
