About the role: 

As the Head of Strategy and Business Development, you will play a pivotal role in developing a business unit supporting the strategy and operations of the Communities directorate. Working closely with the Director, your responsibilities include leading, monitoring, and reporting on the implementation of the directorate’s strategy. You will drive the growth of innovative community services and health offerings, ensuring we meet the diverse needs of our communities. This role involves providing governance and business support for the directorate, focusing on strategic planning and business development supported by financial and business analysis.  

Key Responsibilities: 

Strategy: 

  • Translate strategies into actionable plans with Senior Leaders. 
  • Provide ongoing support for achieving specific strategy outcomes. 
  • Deliver regular reports on strategy progress and outcomes. 
  • Coordinate regular reviews, adjusting strategic priorities as needed. 
  • Collaborate with other Uniting functions and teams for efficiency. 
  • Establish partnerships with health and Government partners for strategy implementation. 

Business Development: 

  • Lead the Communities Business Development Hub, overseeing delivery against timelines and forecasting. 
  • Provide strategic leadership to increase revenue and market share, driving growth and service innovation. 
  • Monitor the impact of national and international trends in community services delivery, incorporating them into strategy implementation. 

Office of the Director: 

  • Oversee the Directorate’s seamless operations, delivering high-quality services in governance reporting, contract management, and financial stewardship. 
  • Ensure effective representation in organisational committees, steering committees, and other relevant forums. 
  • Provide oversight for the Executive Officer as the principal liaison for the Communities directorate, managing information flow and representing the Director Communities in high-level, organisation-wide projects.  

Qualification and experience: 

  • Post Grad/Bachelor qualification in a relevant business field or equivalent. 
  • 8+ years in senior roles in large organisations. 
  • Strong commercial acumen, driving growth and business development. 
  • Detailed understanding of Government legislation and funding models. 
  • Ability to produce high-quality documents for various audiences. 
  • Strategic thinking with sound decision-making skills. 
  • Record of accomplishment of delivering results with strong attention to detail. 
  • Extensive experience in driving and managing change. 
  • Skilled at navigating complex organisations and building peer capability.
