About the role
We currently have an opportunity for a Principal Environmental Consultant to manage our NSW team of environmental scientists and ecologists (our main NSW office is in Parramatta). This role has a focus on:
- Managing a small team of environmental scientists and ecologists. This includes team management, as well as providing mentoring and guidance to junior members of the team;
- Support our Technical lead
- Leading terrestrial and riparian ecological field investigations, report preparation and biodiversity assessments and undertaking broader environmental investigations and impact assessments;
- Provide advice and technical input on a range Environmental Impact Assessments under NSW and Commonwealth Environmental Legislation, including SEEs, REFs, PEAs and EIAs ;
- Managing your own projects, including signing off on reports produced by junior team members;
- Liaise and consult with Clients across NSW and national, and plan and undertake business development; and
- Preparing proposals and input for tenders in NSW and Nationally.
About you
We are looking for a highly motivated, experienced Senior or Principal level Environmental Consultant based in or close to our office at Parramatta. We are open to senior level consultants (7+ years post grad) who are looking for that next step in their career and demonstrate people leadership and management for a few years at some point in their professional career.
- Tertiary qualifications in Environmental Science and/or ecology essential
- Experienced in leading a small team
- BAM accreditation is highly desirable but not essential. If not, then eligibility and willingness to obtain certification is preferred.
- Sound experience with Sydney Basin ecology and undertaking ecological survey in the vegetation communities of NSW.
- Extensive experience in environmental impact assessments & approvals within a consulting environment
- Thorough knowledge of the NSW Environmental Planning & Assessment Act & related legislation is essential
- Highly developed interpersonal, written & verbal communication skills
- Project management and budgeting skills
- Demonstrated project management and leadership experience, specifically the in managing day to day running of small teams
- Unrestricted work rights in Australia
