Build Missouri Health (BMH) is a subsidiary nonprofit of
Missouri Foundation for Health. Launched in 2019, our mission is to
foster and amplify community-led innovations through partnerships
that result in radical systems changes that create equitable health
outcomes. The non profit will fulfill this mission through working
across the state in the three focus areas of healthcare workforce,
climate & health, healthy & affordable housing. In addition
to working on systems change, BMH have served as a fiscal sponsor
to projects that have included regional COVID-19 response and land

For consideration for this position, you must live in
Missouri, preferably in the counties designated below.
Summary
Under the direct supervision of the Executive Director, the
Project & Relationships Associate will play an essential role
in the operations and outreach of Build Missouri Health (BMH),
including developing and managing new projects and initiatives
related to the healthcare workforce, climate & health, and
healthy affordable housing. This person will also be responsible
for cultivating and maintaining relationships with organizations in
Missouri’s Northwest region*.
Responsibilities
- Conduct assessments and mapping of key organizations working on
BMH’s current and future focus areas. - Provide operational day-to-day support for the development,
implementation, assessment, and revision of strategy and programs
within BMH’s focus areas. - Participate and/or manage BMH projects, including partner and
funder meetings, preparing grant reports, and overseeing project
activities. - Research grant opportunities, assist and/or lead in writing
grant proposals. - Plan, organize, and facilitate BMH-hosted events including
meetings, webinars, etc. with strategic partners and
communities. - Serve as a key staff member assisting the Executive Director
with developing operational policies and practices as the
organization grows its work. - Develop a deep understanding of the Northwest region,
contributing expert knowledge of specified communities’ cultures,
health trends, values, perspectives, and priorities to BMH’s
strategy and program development. - Establish initial outreach to nonprofit organizations,
government, businesses, hospitals, and other organizations to both
introduce BMH and learn about how our focus areas are impacting the
communities those organizations serve. - Serve as an ambassador for BMH by developing and maintaining
BMH visibility in the Northwest region, proactively serving as a
contact for a wide range of community organizations and leaders
whose interests intersect with BMH’s focus areas. - Through participation in community meetings, task forces, and
events, strengthen and support BMH’s connection to community
efforts that can lead to partnerships with BMH on key programs and
activities that will impact health equity across the region and
state.
*BMH designates the Northwest region as the 30 counties that
border the Kansas and Iowa state lines, go as far south to include
Vernon, St. Clair, and Benton and as far West to include Mercer,
Grundy, Livingston, Carroll, Saline, and Pettis.
Requirements
Required technical skills
- At least seven (7) years of experience in program development
and management. - At least five (5) years of experience in community engagement
and outreach in Missouri’s Northwest region. - Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and Zoom.
- Proficiency in customer relationship management (CRM)
software. - Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Access to a car or proximity to a car rental agency is
required, as extensive road travel will occur (minimum 50% of work
time).
Preferred skills
- Ability to develop and use analysis and assessment tools (ex.
power mapping, organizational analysis). - Project management skills including knowledge of PM online
tools.

Location: Ideal candidates
will reside in one of the 30 counties designated as the Northwest
region and work remotely. Quarterly travel (at a minimum) to BMH’s
office in St. Louis for on-site meetings will be expected.
