Position description
Global Health Visions seeks a proven leader to guide us in building and developing an ambitious portfolio focused on meeting the increasing and urgent demand for effective solutions and impact at the intersections of climate, health, and development. The Managing Director will serve as an integral member of the GHV team, a women-owned & operated virtual consulting organization on a mission to tackle the biggest issues of our time.
GHV is committed to addressing climate change as a threat to development and well-being across agriculture, nutrition, conservation, and global health. We also recognize the need to integrate principles of equity and justice in creating sustainable and resilient solutions that benefit all people, especially those most vulnerable to climate change impacts.
Our work in this space has grown organically, and this portfolio currently includes projects focused on climate adaptation advocacy, nutrition, agricultural development, and women’s economic empowerment. The Managing Director will oversee this portfolio’s intentional growth by building on existing work and developing and executing a strategy for securing new client partners.
The Managing Director will leverage diverse and deep networks across issues and sectors. We seek a bridge-builder with experience in multiple sectors, including—but not limited to—climate action, climate adaptation, policy and advocacy, environmental sustainability, food systems, and biodiversity. We see clients—typically donors, NGOs, multi-laterals, and the private sector—as partners we work with to co-create solutions. The ideal candidate will deeply understand the impact those partners seek to achieve and match that to our expertise, tools, and talent. The Managing Director will be a major contributor to partner development, managing partner engagements, and representing GHV externally while also managing and inspiring a small team and contributing to GHV’s broader strategic goals.
As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, the Managing Director will work closely with several peer Managing Directors, the CEO, the Chief Strategy Officer, and the Chief Operating Officer to support and drive key strategic decision-making for the organization. A small team dedicated to partner development will support the Managing Director in identifying, pursuing, and securing new partners.
A manager of managers, this role supports Directors and Deputy Directors with the tools, coaching, and resources needed to ensure their team members continue to develop skills and deliver projects that meet our partners’ needs. The Managing Director is curious about how GHV might continue to live into our values and ways of working and is committed to building a more equitable and inclusive company and field.
Role Objectives:
Partner Development & Relationship Management: Design and implement partner development strategies to deepen relationships.
· Build robust, long-term relationships with partners, supporting a culture of mutual trust and respect, and setting GHV up for long-term engagement.
· Generate a sustainable multi-year book of business with changemakers of all types (foundations, NGOs, multi-laterals, private sector).
· Align service offerings and manage proposal processes that address our partners’ impact objectives across various issue areas.

· Represent GHV as a thought leader through writing, speaking and conference attendance.
Portfolio Management: Manage partner projects to support GHV’s revenue and strategy objectives while fulfilling partners’ needs.
· Maintain knowledge of portfolio objectives, key projects, and deliverables to ensure all projects are kicked off with clarity, completed on time and on budget, fully closed out, and aligned with GHV’s quality standards.
· Build and maintain a consistent portfolio of three or more small teams and eight or more staff/consultants that reflects over $4 million in annual revenue.
· Develop partnerships with other organizations well-suited to collaborate to deliver on client work, particularly partners that will support our efforts to amplify expertise and perspectives from low-and-middle income countries and under-represented communities.
· Provide strategic guidance and thought partnership to team leads, Directors or Deputy Directors, ensuring exceptional deliverables, anticipating any shifts in partner needs, and identifying opportunities to collaborate.
Team Management: Lead a high-functioning team.
· Serve as a manager, coach, and mentor to staff by modeling inclusion and cultivating diverse perspectives.
· Maintain a team culture of innovation, continuous improvement and learning, shared leadership, and open communication to help team members accomplish their goals and inspire a growth mindset while meeting partner needs.
· Equip teams with the support and information needed to accomplish their goals through onboarding, regular check–ins, ongoing feedback, and thoughtful performance management.
· Serve as a connector to the larger GHV team to share knowledge and ensure all teammates are informed of GHV developments, opportunities, policies, and systems.
GHV Leadership: Contribute to the growth of GHV team by serving as a mentor, strategic thought partner, and champion of GHV’s values.
· As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, provide insights to partners and teams that can inform GHV team-wide strategy and learning opportunities.
· Actively contribute to GHV strategic planning processes and regular Leadership Team meetings.
