Position Description

Milaan Foundation seeks a mission-driven Development Officer to spearhead the organization’s fundraising strategy and efforts. They would be responsible for active management of current and prospective donors with the potential to give leadership-level and major gifts, end-to-end creation and handling of grant proposal and reporting, as well as generating a pipeline of prospective donors, close donations, and steward relationships for the long term. The person is expected to be an expert in fundraising and donor management with previous experience of being with a global nonprofit working in gender and womxn empowerment. They would be someone who has excellent communications acumen and identifies as a people-oriented leader. Additionally, they would be prepared to become the spokesperson and officially represent Milaan’s mission to an array of stakeholders and domestic as well as international events.

Key areas of Accountability

1. Lead and collaborate with our CEO to develop and execute an annual fundraising plan

which will include fundraising targets, acquisition and retention of institutional donors,

major giving program, fundraising events, donor visits, stewardship activities, and other

performance metrics.

2. Generate a major gift donor pipeline of influential leaders/UHNIs across industries and

communities to solicit and establish long-term relationships.

3. Be responsible for the creation and management of institutional grant proposals and

reporting with support from the program implementation team.

4. Be Milaan’s representative for a wide range of fundraising and networking opportunities.

5. Initiate and manage an operational budget for all the development activities.

Qualifications

Skills and Qualifications Required

1. Preference for at least a Master’s Degree.

2. At least 5+ years of progressive fundraising experience with a global nonprofit working in gender and womxn empowerment, demonstrating major gift solicitations and campaign experience with a proven track record of success of raising a minimum of $1M annually for the team they have led, or $250K individually.

3. Entrepreneurial ability to design, develop and lead the fundraising vertical, including building processes and empowering the team to deliver results.

4. Ability to analyze information, evaluate options, and think and plan strategically.

5. Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.

Other Details

1. Location – Remote/Hybrid in Chicago or San Francisco with work-related travel, both domestic and international.

2. Nature of Employment – Full-time

3. Proposed Compensation – $65,000 to $ 80,000 plus Performance Bonus, depending on expertise and relevant work experience.
