Reporting to the National Manager, Clinical, Quality & Safeguards,, the Positive Behaviour Support Practitioner will be responsible for providing expert behaviour support advice that is evidence based, and that integrates theory and research with a person-centred approach.

In this role you will:

  • Provide supervision and mentoring to other less experienced practitioners, including review and acknowledgement of their BehaviourSupport Plans
  • Undertake risk assessments and behavioural assessments to identify behavioural functions and triggers and support the development of positive behaviour support and capacity building strategies. 
  • Lead development of interim and comprehensive Behaviour Support Plans in line with NDIS requirements
  • Provide training and support to informal and formal support networks of clients.
  • Plan and evaluate behaviour support/s relating to the clients’ needs in line with relevant legislative and ethical requirements.
  • Monitor and report on participant progress towards NDIS goals and therapeutic impacts of behaviour strategies.
  • Work collaboratively with participants, families, carers, staff, and external professionals by writing reports, making recommendations, writing and updating Behavioural Support Plans, Reporting Restrictive Practices and providing therapeutic care to participants as needed and/or requested. 
  • Support mandatory reporting obligations with external regulators, focusing on the development of positive working relationships with all external stakeholders.

About you:

  • Relevant Tertiary education i.e. Bachelor of Social Work
  • industry experience in a similar role developing meaningful goals and practical strategies to meet objectives in the home and community.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to oversee and contribute to the development, delivery and evaluation of evidence based individually tailored Behaviour Support Plans for clients in partnership with informal and formal supports.
  • Attention to detail to undertake administrative tasks necessary for the role including maintaining appropriate documents and systems to safeguard the wellbeing of participants supported.
