About the opportunity

The Achieve Foundation is excited to offer a unique opportunity for a reliable, passionate, and skilled Auslan interpreter to become a valued member of our team. This newly created position is crucial to ensuring seamless communication access for our Deaf-led Project Manager of the Disability Employment Catalyst project.

As an Auslan interpreter, you will play a vital role in supporting our innovative project, which aims to create a scalable pipeline of secure, open employment in human services for people with disability, with a particular focus on youth. By partnering with three large disability service providers and emphasising lived experience leadership, our transformative model aims to bridge the gap between demand and supply in the disability employment sector.

Responsibilities

  • Provide high quality, accurate communication access for internal Deaf staff for internal and external meetings and meetings with stakeholders through face-to-face and online settings
  • Demonstrate flexibility by adapting to schedule changes and collaborating with other interpreters to create additional interpreting booking, and at times working with external interpreters
  • Keep NAATI Certification up to date and actively seek further training and professional development opportunities
  • Stay informed through regular updates on emails and team communications on MS Teams

About you

  • Hold NAATI Certification as an Auslan interpreter
  • Exhibit a strong work ethic and professional approach
  • Demonstrate solid experience in various interpreting settings
  • Possess excellent active listening, interpretation (voice and signing), and communication skills
  • Display excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to represent and promote The Disability Employment Catalyst in a professional manner
  • Work autonomously with minimal supervision or collaboratively within a team
  • Be punctual, reliable, and maintain a positive and flexible attitude
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the disability employment landscape
  • Understand accessibility and accommodation requirements
  • Possess excellent organisational and time management abilities
  • Collaborate effectively with diverse teams and individuals
