About the role
Today we’ve got partnerships with dozens of solar and battery installers who help explain and refer new battery customers to Amber to help battery-owners unlock the full value of their battery.
We’re looking for a highly motivated & self-driven sales person to join our solar installer channel sales team and continue to add new partnerships and grow this channel.You’d be working in a team at the cutting edge of new technology, as a part of Amber’s Marketing & Growth team. Your role will be to drive the development of new solar and battery installer partnerships that will underpin the growth and promotion of this product. By scaling this high priority channel, your work will contribute to driving the renewables transition, while benefiting customers and the grid.
Specifically, you’ll be an energetic and compelling salesperson – and a confident, persuasive communicator (written and verbal) and relationship builder, with a proven track record of success in meeting or exceeding sales goals. You’re familiar with Australia’s energy market and virtual power plants. Ideally, you have in-depth knowledge of the Australian solar and battery market including key players, brands and organisations.
You’ll work closely with all teams across the business, from marketing, to product, operations, exec, and with external partners, to help grow Amber’s battery automation product in line with the objectives of the retail business.This is a hybrid role based in Melbourne. We are open to part-time or full-time applicants.
Responsibilities
- Build out the strategy, development, and expansion of Amber’s channel partnerships with solar and battery installers
- Generate new installer leads and follow up with prospects through our tools, technologies, and lists
- Maintain and foster existing installer partnerships
- Conduct sales presentations and close deals
- Track and report on sales performance
- Explore and expand other B2B2C opportunities that are strategic to the expansion of the Amber for Batteries product
- Collaborate across all Amber teams to develop and expand SmartShift across the NEM for existing and new devices
- Maintain awareness of industry developments particularly around demand response, battery and EV charging technology, and virtual power plants pertinent to a retailer operating in the NEM jurisdictions and Victoria
Key requirements
- 2+ years post-qualification experience working in a business development or sales or technical role in the distributed energy industry (eg residential solar/battery, Virtual Power Plants or Electric Vehicles)
- Very strong communications skills and the ability to motivate and influence senior stakeholders
- An understanding of and interest in energy, demand response and / or virtual power plants
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and also independently to undertake tasks in your portfolio with excellence
- A drive to perform autonomously in a fast-paced environment
- A growth mindset and always willing to learn, as well as to test new things
Nice to haves
- Prior experience working in solar, battery, EV charging, or other smart devices, or with a virtual power plant
- Prior experience at an early/growth stage startup
- You’re passionate about technology, energy and/or the environment.
