Research Assistant (Adv#103/2024)

Environmental Health and WASH Research Group under the Health Systems and Population Studies Division has focused on determining and mitigating environmental pollution, evaluating WASH strategies for improved health, and generating evidence to understand the extent of environmental pollution and contamination in low-resource settings.

Position Description
The Research Assistant will report to the Research Investigator and will be responsible for planning, organizing, and implementing research to collect high-quality data, analyse, write reports and manuscripts, and document within the guidelines of the research protocol and organizational values and guidelines. S/he will be involved in –

  • Support the research team in arranging divisional and district-level workshops with relevant government and non-government stakeholders;
  • Communicate with stakeholders through drafting, revising, and delivering invitation letters;
  • Select venues, acquire logistics, and communicate with local vendors for supplies;
  • Build rapport with the community and stakeholders;
  • Identify potential Key informants, FGD participants and IDI participants following the eligibility criteria;
  • Work with team members in preparing field plan; collect high-quality data in a timely manner adhering to the ethical guidelines;
  • Submit the data, check transcription and code qualitative data in order to proper implementation of the project;
  • Support in drafting the initial report;
  • Work with supervisor in writing manuscripts in order to support scientific manuscript publication;
  • Promote a spirit of collegiality amongst the team members;
  • Encourage team members to collaborate and work together.

Required qualifications and experience:

  • Master’s in Public Health/Anthropology/Applied Statistics/Information and Communication with good academic records;
  • At least 1 year of experience in data collection, analysis, and interpretation; 3 Years of experience for Bachelor degree holders.

Location: Mohakhali, Dhaka.

Number of Positions: 03

Contract Type and Duration:

  • Short Term Contractual Service Agreement basis; duration will be 3 months with a possibility of extension subject to availability of funds and performance.

Salary & benefits:

  • Tk. 37,661/-per month (consolidated) inclusive of house rent and conveyance allowances;
  • Festival bonus, income tax paid by icddr,b, and subsidized canteen; Transport and daycare facilities are subject to space availability.
