Position description

The EPC is looking for a Policy Analyst (PA) or Senior Policy Analyst (SPA) to join its Europe’s Political Economy Programme and work on topics related to EU digital and industrial policies and emerging technologies.

EPC analysts manage projects, provide analysis, and contribute to the EPC’s thought leadership in the programme topics. They should have a solid academic background, a strong understanding of EU institutions and current EU policy developments in the above-mentioned policy areas, and good project management competencies.

The candidate should have the following profile:

  • University degree in a relevant subject (European studies, international relations, security studies or STEM or any other relevant technology/innovation field);
  • At least three years (PA) or five years (SPA) of relevant work experience (other than internships), including in policy analysis or policy-making;
  • Demonstrated ability to research, write and present high-quality policy analysis;
  • Strong interest in European affairs and commitment to European integration;
  • A thorough understanding of EU institutions and a good understanding of past and current developments in relevant EU policy areas;
  • Excellent communication and social skills (oral and written);
  • Ability to engage and network with experts and interested stakeholders;
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a multi-disciplinary team;
  • Dynamic, flexible, reliable and attentive to detail;
  • Fluency in English. Fluency in at least another European language is desirable;
  • A commitment to EPC’s shared values and inclusive working culture.

The main duties are:

  • Developing, leading and implementing the EPC’s activities on some of the following policy areas: EU digital policies, including regulation and governance, privacy and data protection, digital industrial policy and innovation, technological competitiveness and emerging tech (e.g. AI, quantum computing), cybersecurity. Expertise on transatlantic/international dimensions of digital and emerging technologies and economic security topics is an asset;
  • Research and writing policy analyses on the above topics;
  • Managing ongoing projects or developing future ones, including producing new ideas and taking initiative on projects and activities, as well as contributing to the organisation of the Europe’s Political Economy Programme;
  • Overseeing/organising and moderating events (drafting event proposals, invitations and programmes, identifying and contacting speakers);
  • Liaising with external experts and interested stakeholders, as well as building and maintaining a network;
  • Supporting/leading fundraising activities for the Programme in the relevant policy areas.
