The Position
This permanent, full time role commencing in March 2024 will provide financial management to the rapidly growing organisation. Responsibilities include financial planning and reporting, financial governance and grant management.
You will provide advice to the CEO regarding organisational financial governance and financial risk management processes, lead the Finance team, set direction and ensure capability and processes are adequate, as well as work with the Management Team to ensure financial and grants processes are effective and meet stakeholder needs.
This role can be performed remotely with regular trips to Fitzroy Crossing. Ideally, the successful applicant would be based in the Kimberley.
The organisation is funded by numerous sources, such as National Indigenous Australians Agency (NIAA), Department of Communities, Department of Justice and philanthropic donations among others.

The Kimberley Aboriginal Law and Culture Centre [KALACC] is the region’s peak Aboriginal Cultural organisation, supporting the traditional cultural practices of the 30 Aboriginal language groups of the Kimberley region. KALACC prides itself on being the premier body in Australia for the maintenance of traditional Indigenous culture.
Selection Criteria / Role Requirements:
To be successful in this position, you will have:
- A tertiary qualification in Accounting or Business Administration.
- 5-10 years in a business management or finance discipline.
- Experience managing a finance team.
- Experience working with Indigenous people or with an Indigenous organisation.
- Experience in grants management.
- Be flexible, a great communicator, with excellent time management skills.
- Ideally based in the Kimberley, with the ability to travel regularly to Fitzroy Crossing.

What we offer
- A salary package of approx. $130,000 (plus super) per annum pro rata (depending on experience).
- 5 weeks Annual Leave (pro rata) and Generous Salary Packaging benefits.
As KALACC is a Public Benevolent Institution and a remote area employer, we are able to offer salary packaging to employees based on individual circumstances.
