As a Grants Management Substitution Specialist, you will play a vital role in supporting DRC’s country missions worldwide. Your mission is to fill gaps in grants-related positions, ensuring smooth operations and impactful assistance. From proposal development to technical support, you’ll provide essential expertise and guidance to our teams in the country operations.

Your main duties and responsibilities will be:

  • Contribute to the writing and/or compiling of proposals, review proposals for consistency, compliance, language, and overall high quality, in line with DRC’s fundraising strategy.
  • Manage and supervise internal and external reporting, ensuring high-quality, well-written, and timely reports meeting donor and DRC requirements.
  • Maintain grants system for quality information management including grant files, project documentation, donor communication, trackers etc.; maintain overview of deadlines and requirements for financial and narrative reports, proposals, and amendment requests.
  • Provide expert advice on the specialized area of grants management and donor compliance.
  • Review donor contracts to inform decision making during contract execution and implementation.
  • Keep abreast of, interpret, and provide guidance to staff on donor regulations and policies; educate project staff on award compliance issues.
  • Support Kick Off, Review and Closure Meetings for all grants with the aim of ensuring donor compliance, operation/programme integration, logistics support, etc. in the multiple DRC office locations.
  • Train programme and operations staff in donor compliance and grants management processes to enhance quality within DRC operations, including quality reporting and project cycle management.
  • Contribute to the development of training materials and the facilitation of training in report writing and donor compliance for DRC staff and for local partners.
  • Provide ad-hoc support in report writing, proposal development, DRC-specific tools, and other topics, as needed.

Moreover, we also expect the following:

Required

  • University degree in International Development, DRR related studies, Social Science, Management, or relevant field
  • Minimum three years of technical experience in grants management, including humanitarian and development funding, proposal writing, report writing, donor compliance and project cycle management.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and revising donor reports, proposals and sub-grants for ECHO, FCDO, BHA, BPRM, UNHCR and other humanitarian donors.
  • Confident in Program Cycle Management and Logical Framework Approach
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize and cope with competing demands under tight deadlines.
  • Ability to be proactive and work with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, culturally sensitive and adaptable
  • Excellent communication, coordination, and collaboration skills, with proficiency in written and oral English
  • Innovative, flexible, and adaptable in hardship locations, with a willingness to travel to DRC Country Missions and Regional Offices and work in unstable security environments.

Desirable

  • At least one year of field experience from a country or regional office in a humanitarian/development organization (either as a national staff or as an expatriate) – preferably in a grants or program position.
  • Proficiency in one of the following languages:  French, Spanish, Arabic.
  • Experience in staff management, including supervising, training, and mentoring team members.
