About the role
The Senior Communications Officer is a critical role within a fast-moving, high performing and collaborative team. The role is responsible for supporting and, in some instances, leading internal and external communications across the Young & Resilient Research Centre to ensure effective promotion of our research and expertise. The role works under the umbrella of the Centre’s Impact and Knowledge Translation Portfolio, and will operate under the guidance of the Centre’s Research Officer – Impact.
The role is not limited to but includes:
- Implementing comprehensive external communication strategies aligned with the Centre’s goals and objectives;
- Developing and implementing an internal communications strategy to keep employees and members informed and engaged;
- Producing high-quality content for various internal and external channels, including written materials, presentations, videos, website and social media platforms;
- Designing reports, presentations, website pages and other resources;
- Ensuring consistency in messaging across all communication platforms;
- Enforcing brand guidelines across all communication materials to uphold and enhance the Centre’s brand identity;
- Collaborating with senior leadership and various departments across the University, including the Office of Marketing and Communications, and the Media Department to ensure consistent messaging;
- Collaborating with the Centre Manager and Research Officer – Impact to ensure communications budgets are managed and resources are allocated effectively;
- Monitoring and analysing the effectiveness of communication strategies through key performance indicators (KPIs), using data to refine and improve communication approaches;
- Planning, coordinating and/or supporting events, ensuring they are well publicised and align with the Centre’s messaging;
- Providing communication support and training for staff and members, executives, and other stakeholders;
- Supporting the development of the annual report and the annual impact report;
- Cultivating relationships with media outlets, journalists, and influencers, including drafting media releases and pitching stories to secure positive media coverage.
The Senior Communications Officer will work under the guidance of and in collaboration with the Centre’s Research Officer – Impact, who oversees the team’s impact and knowledge translation activities, including communication and marketing. They are also expected to work closely with the Centre Manager and the rest of the team to be familiar with the research activities that are to be communicated.
Remuneration: Higher Education Worker Level 6 – $62.09 per hour (includes 25% casual loading).
