You will play a key support role to the Head of Programme (HoP) in representing DRC and supporting in the operationalization of DRC’s country strategy in Ukraine. You will engage in key fora in coordination with the HoP and Country Director. You will support the HoP in overseeing quality assurance and compliance for all DRC submissions to donors, and provide support to technical coordinators in understanding and addressing the support needs of program teams across DRC area offices.
Your main responsibilities will be:
External engagement:
- You will build a robust understanding of DRC’s programming, as well as of key elements of the Ukraine context and humanitarian and recovery needs, to ensure that the reach of DRC’s external engagement if effectively extended.
- You will support area and capital focal points in the planning of donor monitoring visits, internal field visits to oversee program implementation, and support the planning and execution of strategic engagement opportunities.
Business development and reporting
- Support the HoP in exploring innovative partnerships and business development opportunities in coordination with the grants management department and relevant regional and HQ focal points.
- Support in the development and/or review of high quality reports, assessments (baselines, endlines, etc.), concept notes etc., providing capacity building to teams where gaps are identified.
- You will be an interlocutor between departments such as communications and grants, ensuring that DRC can produce high quality outputs that highlight DRC’s work and support in resource mobilization.
- You will support the HoP to identify project priorities based on needs identified in DRC’s areas of implementation and based on assessment data.
Support to coordinators and area program teams
- You will help program teams to effectively launch new projects, delegating questions to relevant focal points, and fluidly coordinating with departments on project design changes when necessary.
- You will provide support to technical coordinators when relevant to elevate the efficiency of their work and reduce the extent of conflicting priorities (such as proposal development vs capacity building).
About you:
To be successful in the role of Programme Coordinator we expect you to have at least 3-5 years of experience managing or technically supporting programming in complex crises and at least 2 years of experience with people management an asset.
Moreover, we expect:
- Bachelor’s degree in international relations, social work, law or another relevant field.
- Demonstrated experience working with both humanitarian and development donors such as BHA, SIDA, USAID, the EU, ECHO, the UN and others.
- Knowledge of and experience with DRC’s program sectors in Ukraine (e.g. protection, shelter and settlements, and economic recovery) an asset.
- Previous proven experience in programs implemented through direction implementation, local partners, and in remote management.
- Proven experience in capacity building and training of national staff and local partners
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft office
- Full professional proficiency in English.
