Habitat Restoration Technician
Integrated Resource Management (IRM) is a full service environmental consulting firm based in Philomath, Oregon. IRM assists progressive landowners and agencies with a full range of forestry management services including forest inventory, timber cruising, timber sale layout. In addition, IRM provides full scale habitat restoration services including: Invasive species control, revegetation services, plant surveys and GPS mapping, management plan writing, restoration thinning and log placement projects throughout the Pacific Northwest. IRM is currently recruiting several full time, seasonal habitat restoration technicians. This position will be based out of our Albany, Oregon field office in Western Oregon. This position will be responsible primarily for completing habitat restoration projects. The position will likely involve nearly all field work including but not limited to: herbicide application, weed pulling, limited saw work, slash pile building, burning and other manual labor. This is an ideal position for a highly motivated individual interested in gaining experience in forestry and habitat restoration by working on a variety of projects, in a small but highly reputable environmental consulting firm.
Qualified candidates will work on a range of projects within in the Willamette valley of western Oregon, from Eugene to Portland. Individuals will be asked to conduct the following field work as part of their position:
- Chainsaw operation
- Herbicide application on invasive species
- Manual labor
- Slash pile burning
- Tree planting
- Weed pulling
Requirements:
- Must have 6-months of experience doing manual restoration (spraying, tree planting, chain saw work, etc).
- Must be a legal worker in the State of Oregon.
- Must be able to speak fluent English
- Must have own transportation to our Albany shop.
- Ability to learn a variety of plant identification skills.
- Ability to perform field work in a variety of weather and topographic conditions.
- Self-motivated, high level of work ethic and able to work unsupervised for long periods of time.
Compensation:
- $16.00 per hour, 40 hours per week
- Per diem when working away from home over night and/or a travel stipend.
This position is a full-time seasonal.
