Organizational Setting
The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) is dedicated to fostering efficient, inclusive, resilient, and sustainable agri-food systems worldwide. Within FAO, the Digital FAO and Agro-informatics Division (CSI) plays a pivotal role in overseeing all information technology (IT) activities. CSI’s responsibilities include defining IT policies, providing strategic advice on IT architecture and standards, and managing FAO’s information and data systems. As part of its digital transformation, FAO has chosen Salesforce as the foundation for its Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system to enhance engagements, resource mobilization, and other business processes across the organization.
To support the implementation and maintenance of the Salesforce CRM system, including Sales and Service Clouds, Experience Cloud and other products added in the future, FAO is seeking dynamic and skilled professionals for the following roles:
• Salesforce Administrator
• Salesforce Developer
• Salesforce Solution Architect
These roles offer promising opportunities to contribute to FAO’s mission while working remotely with at least 4 hours of overlap with the CET time zone.
Reporting Lines
The selected candidates will report to the Senior Information Technology Officer, with day-to-day coordination provided by the Senior CRM Consultant.
Technical focus
Salesforce Administrator:
Oversees the daily operations of the Salesforce CRM system, ensuring its smooth functioning and alignment with organizational goals. S/he is responsible for customizing Salesforce features such as objects, fields, workflows, and reports to meet specific business requirements. Additionally, s/he will maintain system security, conduct user training sessions, and provide ongoing support to maximize user adoption.
Salesforce Developer:
Collaborates with business teams to develop and deploy customized Salesforce solutions using salesforce development tools. Tasks include building custom workflows, reports, and integrations, as well as handling data migration and troubleshooting.
Salesforce Solution Architect:
Leads the design and architecture of comprehensive Salesforce solutions aligned with organizational goals, defining technical specifications, data models, and integration points. S/he ensures adherence to data governance, security, and compliance standards while effectively communicating and managing stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle. Advises on the best practices, stays up to date with the new Salesforce products and releases and advises on implications of the proposed solutions.
Tasks and responsibilities
Salesforce Administrator:
• Manage day-to-day operations of the Salesforce CRM system, including system administration, troubleshooting, user support/training, change control, and data quality.
• Customize Salesforce objects, fields, page layouts, workflows, and reports to meet organizational requirements.
• Maintain system security, configurations, and enhancements while ensuring data integrity.
• Develop training materials and conduct user training sessions.
• Act as the primary point of contact for Salesforce users and promote system adoption.
Salesforce Developer:
• Collaborate with business teams to gather requirements and design, code, test, and deploy Salesforce solutions.
• Develop custom workflows, reports, dashboards, and integrations to enhance the CRM environment.
• Assist in data migration, quality assurance, and troubleshooting.
• Stay updated with Salesforce releases and evaluate their applicability to FAO’s needs.
Salesforce Solution Architect:
• Lead the design and architecture of Salesforce solutions aligned with organizational objectives.
• Define technical specifications, data models, and integration points.
• Configure and customize Salesforce platform components and develop Apex code as needed.
• Ensure data governance, data integrity, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver projects on time and within budget.
CANDIDATES WILL BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE FOLLOWING
Minimum Requirements
• Relevant experience in Salesforce administration (2 years), development (3 years), or architecture (5 years).
• Salesforce certifications required for each role (Administrator, Developer, Solution Architect).
• For Consultants: University degree in Information Technology or related field. Working knowledge (Level C) of English, French or Spanish. Limited knowledge (Level B) of one of the other two or Chinese, Arabic, Russian.
• For PSAs: University degree or equivalent technical experience in the field. Working knowledge (Level C) of English, French or Spanish
Technical/Functional Skills:
Salesforce Administrator:
• Working knowledge and hand-on experience in Salesforce products and platform: Sales and Service Cloud, Experience/Community Cloud
• Ability to customize Salesforce fields, page layouts, workflows, reports, and dashboards.
• Experience in system administration, user support/training, and change control within Salesforce CRM.
• Understanding of data management concepts and ability to ensure data integrity.
Salesforce Developer:
• Experience with Salesforce developer toolkit – Apex, VisualForce, Force.com IDE, Force.com Migration Tool, Web Services/SOA & Metadata APIs.
• Proficiency in Salesforce declarative customization tools such as Process Builder, Flows, Workflow Rules, and Validation Rules.
• Experience in custom development, coding, configuration, and deployment of Salesforce solutions.
• Familiarity with web development technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) and programming languages (such as .NET).
• Ability to work with data migration, ETL/integration tools, and wide range of Salesforce applications.
Salesforce Solution Architect:
• Ability to design and architect complex Salesforce solutions aligned with organizational objectives.
• In-depth knowledge of Salesforce platform architecture, including Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, and Experience/Community Cloud, Non-Profit Cloud.
• Proficiency in Salesforce declarative customization tools such as Process Builder, Flows, Workflow Rules, and Validation Rules.
• Experience with Salesforce integration patterns, REST/SOAP APIs, and data synchronization tools.
• Hands-on experience with Salesforce development technologies, including Apex, Visualforce, and Lightning Web Components.
• Strong understanding of data modelling, security model, and data management best practices in Salesforce.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
