The Annual Giving Specialist is a key member of all fundraising campaigns (both internal and external), and will work closely with the Director of Philanthropy and other development team members to effectively qualify, cultivate, solicit and steward donors up to $10,000.

Development Specialist – Annual Giving
Position reports to: Director of Philanthropy
Employment type: Full-time; salaried
Work schedules/hours: 40+ hours/week; flexibility to attend meetings ad events outside of normal work hours is required.

Job Responsibilities

  • Implement strategies to meet annual giving fundraising goals of approximately $1M+ annually
  • Manage a portfolio of approximately 125 annual giving donors as assigned and strategize renewals; develop, coordinate and conduct solicitations
  • Coordinate statewide efforts for associate giving and serve as fundraising lead for Central Indiana
    • Create and implement fundraising strategies to increase the percentage of associate donors across the organization with an emphasis on acquiring new donors
    • Participate and lead associate solicitations, including key internal leaders
    • Oversee and implement Associate Campaigns in Central Indiana and across the state
    • Assist in the project selection and manage co-chairs and volunteers
    • Design and order materials and supplies for campaign efforts
    • Develop messaging strategy and targeted audiences for Campaigns
    • Implement follow-up strategies for associates throughout the Campaign
    • Develop recognition strategies for Campaigns to help motivate associate participation
    • Facilitate ongoing, year-round associate giving for Central Indiana
  • Oversee giving societies for Central Indiana and support giving societies and annual renewals statewide
    • Manage giving societies for Central Indiana (donors of $1,000+)
    • Work with major gift team to identify annual donors as major and planned gift prospects
    • Review monthly list of expiring members, assign to staff members, and implement renewal strategies
    • Work with the Communications Specialist to ensure timely mailings of annual donors for re-solicitation
    • Develop and implement promotional strategies to grow the program
    • Follow-up and visit with annual giving society members who may be in the hospital as appropriate
  • Assist with grateful patient programs, working closely with hospital staff to identify grateful patients and ensure they have proper Foundation resources available
  • Implement strategies to acquire new donors and re-engage lapsed donors, including direct mail, e-mail, social, etc.
  • Define appropriate donor audiences for communication pieces, strategize on direct mail solicitations and create and implement stewardship opportunities
  • Maintain accurate and timely tracking of all donor activities using Raiser’s Edge donor database
  • Oversee budget and timelines for assigned areas, ensuring deadlines are met
  • Work collaboratively with Foundation staff
  • Assist with additional projects as assigned

The ideal candidate would have:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Experience managing a portfolio of 125+ annual giving donors
  • Experience in leading large fund raising efforts
  • Experience with budgeting and tracking
  • Certification specializing in fundraising

Requirements:

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

  • Certification specializing in Fund Raising preferred.

Education:

  • High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate’s degree/Bachelor’s degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
