The Team
The Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Center of Excellence
(CoE) is a central functional team made up of subject matter
experts, specialists and enabling partners (i.e., analytics,
communications, project managers, and external consultants) to
provide foundation-wide direction, governance, tools, and resources
to drive DEI commitment and results. The CoE also includes and
provides management oversight for Employee Resource Groups
(ERGs).

Your Role
The Senior DEI Partner, Internal Communities will be responsible
for developing and implementing strategies informed by the
perspectives of the foundation’s internal employees to activate,
engage, elevate the enable our communities of DEI change makers to
accelerate impact. You will be a member of the DEI CoE partnering
closely with our Employee Resource Groups (ERG), DEI and Gender
Leads, and Equitable Grantmaking at Gates (EGG) community. This
role requires in-depth knowledge and experience advising leaders,
executives, and community members on strategy, initiatives, and
activations. This role will drive collaboration, structure, and
apply governance throughout the landscape of internal
communities.This position will be based in our Seattle, WA OR Washington, DC
offices. Relocation support will be offered.What You’ll Do
- Set, activate, and oversee the foundation’s ERG
strategy. - Build collaborative and trusted relationships with leaders of
our ERG, DEI and Gender Lead, EGG communities. - Understand needs for and lead development of tools and
processes that will enable the ERGs, DEI and Gender Leads, and EGG
to lead their teams and achieve their goals. - Drive the planning, design, development, communication, and
program management of CoE-led events that support our objectives,
aligning and guiding collaborative teams to drive effective
execution. - Lead change management for events that involve executives,
sponsors, and partners. - Ensure measurement for effectiveness of ERG programs, in
partnership with our measurement & learning team. - Guide and influence the development of cross-collaboration
events to increase engagement and drive impact. - Collaborate with partners across DEI, HR, legal,
communications, operations, community engagement, partner
strengthening and diversification, and gender integration in
development of solutions that will contribute to greater community
effectiveness. - Identify, prioritize, and raise key needs and issues for
foundation wide consideration and resolution. - Serve as an expert-level resource on DEI strategy and
implementation for division and regional partners, when
needed. - Serve as a DEI thought leader, internally and
externally. - Other duties and responsibilities, as assigned.
Your Experience
- Degree in relevant field with significant (10+) years’
experience as a DEI or change management professional. - Experience inspiring change in philanthropic/non-profit sector
preferred with an understanding of how to leverage philanthropic
investments to advance strategic equity goals. - Deep subject matter expertise in DEI and/or change making in a
multinational and multicultural context. - Ability to balance critical, strategic thinking with an
orientation toward action and results. - Ability to build strategies that guide senior leaders towards
building a more inclusive culture that drives impact. - Experience working with HR Business Partners and other
DEI-related partners. - Public speaking experience in small and large group forums, and
excellent presentation and facilitation skills. - Excellent verbal and written skills with an ability to
communicate effectively at various levels. - Strong interpersonal skills, relationship-building, and
collaboration skills to work with diverse groups and partners
across the organization at all levels. - Ability to positively influence leaders – recognizing when to
challenge and when to support to build relationships and drive
impact. - Ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities in
a fast-paced, fluid environment, and to function well under
pressure. - Consistent exercise of independent judgement and discretion in
matters of significance. - Ability to travel, and to work variable schedule(s) as
necessary to support initiatives and partners.

The salary range for this role is $199,000 to $308,400 USD. As a
mission-driven organization, we strive to balance competitive pay
with our mission. New hires salaries are typically between the
range minimum and the salary range midpoint. Actual placement in
the range will depend on a candidate’s job-related skills,
experience, and expertise, as evaluated during the interview
process.
