We are seeking dedicated individuals to join our expanding workforce. The Office of the Public Advocate protects and promotes the rights of adults with decision-making disabilities and in doing so offers employees a rewarding, challenging and meaningful workplace that supports communities across WA.

This is a Pool process with permanent full time or part time and fixed term full time or part time opportunities.

Currently, there are permanent positions available for immediate filling.

About the role

Guardians make personal and lifestyle decisions on behalf of represented persons, who have decision-making disabilities, such as intellectual disability, mental health condition, dementia or acquired brain injury. Guardians also attend hearings at the State Administrative Tribunal to advocate on their behalf.

As a guardian you will need to demonstrate an ability to work with delegated responsibility in situations which demand personal resilience, initiative, and independence. You will need to possess well-developed analytical, research and problem-solving skills with the ability to make significant decisions. High level communication skills are required, including report writing, good oral communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills, and the ability to engage and work with people in situations of conflict. You will also need to demonstrate expertise and established networks relation to community-based services for people with decision-making disabilities.

All employees are required to undergo employment screening, which includes a National Criminal History Check and other checks that may be relevant to the position requirements.
