- This position is open to applicants with a lived experience of intellectual disability only. This means a person has an intellectual disability.
- This is a part-time position (2 hours per week) for 1 year
- $45.50 – $51.49 per hour + 17% Super and leave loading
- The Kirby Institute is at UNSW in Kensington, Sydney
About the position:
The Kirby Institute helps improve the health of different groups of people.
The Research assistant – Lived Experience (Intellectual Disability) will work on a project called Vax4Health.
Vax4Health will help young people with disability to access vaccine services in special schools.
The Research Assistant will help with all parts of the project.
The Research Assistant will:
- Help develop plans for projects at Kirby Institute
- Help develop research materials that people with intellectual disability can understand.
- Help find and interview people with intellectual disability and their support networks.
- Help with project meetings.
- Tell us what you think of the research results.
- Help design and test the resources.
- Help share the information by speaking at meetings and conferences.
The Research Assistant should have:
- Lived experience of intellectual disability (has an intellectual disability)
- Experience or interest in research or advocacy that helps improve the lives of people with disability.
- Understanding of or interest in vaccines or health.
- Good organisation and time management skills.
- Ability to ask questions and discuss issues in research interviews and meetings.
- Ability to work with a team.
- Understanding and/or experience with planning projects and providing general project support.
