Role Overview
We’re looking for a committed full-time Organiser to support our citizen mobilisation push in the 2024 EU elections, from March to June 14. You will be part of a team dedicated to ensuring Europe continues to stand as a strong democratic force.
Joining one of the world’s leading public organisations, your expertise in organising people and events will be leveraged to execute targeted campaigns aimed at preserving our human rights and dignity, as well as the environment during the EU elections.
Your responsibilities will include organising offline and online events, managing volunteers, collaborating with partner organisations, drafting content, engaging directly with our members.
This position is a unique opportunity to shape Europe’s political future in alignment with justice, equality, and human dignity.
Responsibilities
- Monitoring election cycles and processes in France and identifying opportunities for mobilisations
- Coordinating communities, influencers and individuals.
- Working with grassroots organisations and civil society to coordinate efforts.
- Leading the planning and execution of both physical and digital campaigns, including physical actions and stunts with short turnaround and media engagement.
- Supporting the development of creative tactics and messages.
- Drafting Avaaz member emails and other communications.
- Assisting Campaign Directors in organising campaign actions and logistics, from ad buys to public petition deliveries.
- Public speaking in media and on social media.
- Publishing and editing online content.
- Correspondence and consultation (e.g. polling) with members.
Qualifications
This is a challenging role that requires motivation, reliability, flexibility, good judgement, initiative and an ability to deliver results. The core competencies which any successful candidate will display are:
- Strong understanding and experience of how public elections campaigns function.
- Strong understanding of local culture, politics and media/social media landscape.
- Professionalism, efficiency and results-oriented delivery on short timelines.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Passion and commitment to global justice, citizen empowerment and social change.
- Strong teamwork skills, comfortable in a highly collaborative team culture and a hierarchical team structure.
- Enthusiasm for a wide range of global issues, and a readiness to move swiftly between them, while being able to rapidly focus in on the details of each.
- Strong strategic thinking and campaign planning skills.
- Creativity for campaign tactics and strategies.
- Proficient in Google Suite and online communication systems (Slack, Zoom, etc).
- Excellent written and verbal skills in French – high level of English is a plus.
Location
Avaaz is a virtual organisation, with most of our work done online. This position will be based in France, ideally in région parisienne.
Compensation
Salary varies with location and experience, and is highly competitive with leading international nongovernmental organisations. The monthly compensation for this position ranges from 4.800 – 7.000 EURO.
