Purpose of consultancyConduct and review recruitment/continuing medical examinations and advice on medical clearance and other Medico-administrative issues relating to SSAs in all SEAR country offices. The consultant provides medical assistance and handles medical emergencies along with the Staff physician and Nurse during working hours and takes calls after working hours
Background
There are approx. 2500 SSA holders in all country offices.WCO-India itself has over 1000 SSA holders. Owing to increased workload, services of the consultant is needed to support the RSP in matters of medical clearance of SSA holders and also be available onsite to provide medical assistance / handle medical emergencies along with RMS team during working hours. The consultant shall work as Locum during absence of RSP
Deliverables
Deliverable 1: Conduct and review recruitment/continuing medical examinations and advice on medical clearance and other Medico-administrative issues relating to SSAs in all SEAR country offices.
Deliverable 2: The consultant provides onsite medical assistance and handles medical emergencies during working hours along with RMS team and take calls after working hours.
Deliverable 3: Coordinate with hospitals to monitor condition of serious patients during hospital stay. Occasionally, visit staff at home for purpose of sick-leave determination.
Deliverable 4: Work as Locum during absence of RSP
Qualifications, experience, skills and languages
Educational Qualifications:
Essential: University degree in medicine plus Post Graduate training in MD medicine/Family Medicine
Experience
Essential:At least 3 years of extensive clinical experience post residency training.
Desirable: International experience isdesirable
Skills/Knowledge:
Desirable: ACLS certification would be desirable
Languages and level required (Basic/Intermediate/Expert):
Essential:
- Expert knowledge of English
- Intermediate knowledge of Hindi

On site: Regional Medical Services , WHO SEARO. New Delhi
Travel
The consultant is not expected to travel
Remuneration and budget (travel costs are excluded):
- Remuneration: National consultancy level at NO.B grade for a monthly remuneration of INR 3,00,000
- Living expenses NA
- Expected duration of contract: 11 Months expected to start from 12 May 2024 to 11 April 2025

- Please note that WHO’s contracts are conditional on members of the workforce confirming that they are vaccinated as required by WHO before undertaking a WHO assignment, except where a medical condition does not allow such vaccination, as certified by the WHO Staff Health and Wellbeing Services (SHW). The successful candidate will be asked to provide relevant evidence related to this condition. A copy of the updated vaccination card must be shared with WHO medical service in the medical clearance process. Please note that certain countries require proof of specific vaccinations for entry or exit.
