Reporting to the WA Program Manager, we are seeking an Early Childhood Care and Development (ECCD) Project Manager based in Derby WA to lead our ECCD work across the West Kimberley.

This role exists to manage and lead:

  • The adaptation, development, implementation and evaluation of the West Kimberley ECCD project with our partner communities
  • The relationship with our implementation partners and stakeholders
  • The staff including casual staff in remote communities.

Your main duties and responsibilities will include:

  • Project Management – Lead annual participatory implementation planning, monitoring and evaluating for the projects; Support the team to engage community and stakeholders to successfully implement the annual project implementation plan; Manage project and resources in line with standard WVA policies and requirements along with any contractual requirements.
  • Grant & Financial Management – Development of annual budget in collaboration with operations team; Manage the project cost centre; Manage relationship and expectations of grant providers to maintain ongoing funding.
  • Lead ECCD Project Team – Provide leadership and management for all ECCD project staff working on the project; Set the strategic direction for relevant staff to work towards project goals.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with partners – Work closely with our partner to ensure that annual agreed partnership and training milestones are met.
  • Communication, Monitoring, Reporting, and Evaluation – Monitor and work with project staff to identify challenges and lessons learned; Manage the project data collection system; Submit high quality project reports.

Your skills and experience will include:

  • A deep commitment and passion for early childhood issues in Australia 
  • Understanding of the cultural, political, economic and social issues affecting First Nations people in Western Australia
  • Good understanding of, & firm commitment to, community development processes, gender equity, participatory approaches and development theory 
  • Degree qualification in Children and Family Studies, Early Childhood Education, Community Development, Behavioural or Social Sciences, related discipline or equivalent experience
