Apply today!What you will be doingJob Purpose:To oversee all loading activities and to take responsibility for all warehouse functions on the shift ensuring that work is completed in a safe and efficient manner, meeting the agreed quality and service levels of Alloga, its clients and governing bodies and also to deputise for the Shift Manager when required.Key Tasks:
- Oversee and manage team of up to 50 operatives and 3 supervisors.
- Manage day-to-day operational aspects of a busy outbound department which is heavily deadline driven.
- To manage a workload of 70-90 outbound trailers per 8 hours night shift.
- Provide regular communication to all supervisor who will be affected by any change that a project may deliver.
- To report any damage or defect whether it be to road or on-site equipment or property to the Loading Manager and Facilities Manager
- Monitor standards of operation and behaviours to ensure that safe systems of work are being followed and policy requirements are being maintained. Take appropriate action where non-compliance is identified.
- To adhere to Department of Transport regulations for Air Freight Security
- To ensure that all doors are always secured or manned ensuring no unauthorized entry to site by challenging any personnel not displaying a valid identity pass.
- To monitor staff appearance, ensuring that the company uniform is worn and is clean and in presentable condition together with the wearing and displaying of a valid identity pass.
- To ensure that all operations are in line with MHRA and GDP standards including maintaining excellent standards of housekeeping.
- To ensure that cold-chain disciplines are always adhered to.
- To take responsibility for all staff training to maximise their efficiency and to ensure training SOPs are completed and recorded on the training database.
- Operational Management
- To ensure that all direct reports always adhere to the Company Health & Safety policies/standards.
- To ensure that all accidents and near misses are reported immediately to the HS&E Manager
- To ensure that all department activity is performed in accordance with company procedures and client instructions.
- To understand all functions of the warehouse and offer support, leadership and problem-solving skills.
- Maximize profit and minimize cost paying particular attention to planned and used hours through the Budget.
- To control the weekly charging reports including any Ad hoc activity.
- Ensure all contact with clients/customers is both professional and responsive to their needs.
- To ensure that the Site Performance KPI results are to the agreed targets and/or plans are in place to achieve set targets.
- To brief the team at regular intervals
- To actively support encourage teamwork throughout the work place

Education, Knowledge and Experience Required:
- Educated to O/GCSE Level Standard or above
- NVQ Level 3 or equivalent
- Minimum of 2 years experience in a warehouse or similar environment
- Sound Knowledge of GDP
- Trained in all relevant SOP’s within 3 months
