About the role

We are currently seeking highly motivated Diploma qualified Early Childhood Educators to provide outstanding Occasional Care services at one of Australia’s premier Sports and Aquatic Centres.

The Occasional Care service at Glen Eira Sports and Aquatic Centre (GESAC) provides high-quality short-term care for children aged 6 weeks to 6 years whilst parents use the facilities or attend offsite appointments. Sessions run Monday to Friday between 9am and 12noon.

This role is part of the Family, Youth and Children’s Services Department – a team who are passionate about the best outcomes for children, young people, and families in Glen Eira through advocating, collaborating, and providing high quality services.

As an Occasional Care Attendant, you will:

  • Deliver programs based on children’s cognitive, physical, social, emotional and language development.
  • Assist with the preparation of resources and learning plans.
  • Prepare the room based on the planned program for the day.
  • Pack up and clean the room at the end of each session.
  • Ensure all relevant records such as sign-in book and accidents/injuries are accurately maintained.

About you

Your passion for early childhood education will be matched by your reflective nature, sense of curiosity and ability to have fun. You take joy in being able to provide safe, stimulating and educational programs to young learners.

The following is also required:

  • Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care.
  • First Aid Certificate Asthma 22556VIC, CPR HLTAID009, Anaphylaxis 22578VIC or equivalent.
  • Knowledge and Understanding of the Children’s Services Regulations 2020 and the Children’s Services Act 1996.
  • Pre-employment checks.

Progressed candidates must undergo pre-employment screening as a standard procedure which will include:

  • Employee Working with Children Check.
  • New National Police Record Check.
  • Pre-employment medical assessment.
  • Evidence of right to work in Australia.
  • Pre-employment checks are not used by Glen Eira City Council to prevent any applicant from applying for this position.
