The Program Officer, Workforce Development will play a key role in implementing our education and training program for the primary health care workforce in the north western Melbourne region. Utilising their understanding of adult learning principles, they will support education and training that aligns with the needs of our region’s population and implements strategies to ensure maximum participation by health care professionals.

About Us

We are North Western Melbourne Primary Health Network (NWMPHN), Victoria’s largest independent, locally governed and run, not-for-profit PHN, dedicated to improving primary health care in our community.

What are PHNs?

PHNs have been established with two key objectives:

  • Increasing the efficiency and effectiveness of services for community members, particularly those at risk of poor health outcomes
  • Improving coordination of care to ensure people receive the right care in the right place, at the right time

A typical week may involve:

  • Managing the ongoing planning and delivery of our education calendar (including communications, evaluation and reporting)
  • Ensure NWMPHN’s education program is highly accessible to primary health care providers through flexible participation options including: regional geographic delivery; webinar; online learning; online resources and toolkits, alternative methods of delivery
  • Engaging with key stakeholders for consultation and education development, e.g., local hospitals, peak bodies and other key education providers
  • Supporting projects, e.g., coordinating EOIs, managing project documentation and providing education expertise to the broader team and organisation

We are looking for someone who has:

  • Demonstrated experience in the coordination and delivery of education and training activities, including accreditation of training to meet professional standards (e.g., RACGP)
  • Experience in effective stakeholder engagement and relationship development with health professionals
  • Well-developed written and oral communication, interpersonal and project management skills, able to work proactively on a diverse range of projects with a diverse range of stakeholders
  • Understanding of primary health care in Australia
  • Experience with online education platforms or Learning Management Systems (desirable)
