In partnership with Caritas Iraq, CRS Iraq is supporting conflict-affected people to live in dignity through upgrades to shelter conditions and improved access to water and sanitation facilities, educational and psychosocial (PSS) support for children, livelihoods support, social cohesion, and multi-purpose cash assistance.
Job Summary
As a member of the education project team, the Education Project Officer (PO) will implement, monitor, and report on all education project activities in support of Catholic Relief Services’ (CRS) work serving the poor and vulnerable. The PO’s thorough and service-oriented approach will ensure that the project consistently applies best practices and constantly works towards improving the impact of its benefits to those we serve.
Roles and Key Responsibilities:
- Support the coordination and implementation of all assigned project activities in schools as outlined in the detailed implementation plan in line with CRS program quality principles and standards, donor requirements, and good practices.
- Monitor and report any challenges and/or gaps identified to inform adjustments to plans and implementation Assist partners in their efforts to reflect on project experiences.
- Support accountability through coordinating project evaluation activities and collaborate with local partners to prepare reports per established reporting schedule.
- Collect information on staff capacity needs and technical assistance needs of partner organizations and monitor capacity building and technical support activities to ensure effective
- Complete project documentation for assigned activities. Assist with identifying information for case studies and reports on promising practices.
- Collaborate with CRS and Caritas education teams to design and conduct school trainings, teacher learning groups, and teacher observations: training may include Social Emotional Learning (SEL), Child Protection, Caregiver Engagement, and PSS Mainstreaming in the
- Establish and maintain strong working relationships with school administration, teachers, DoE officials, beneficiary communities and other relevant stakeholders.
Qualifications & Preferred Skills
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required, preferable in education, child development, child protection or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of related work experience. Experience in the field of Education and PSS for an NGO would be a plus and past teaching experience preferably in Kirkuk strongly preferred.
- Additional education may substitute for some
- Experience in participatory action planning and community
- Experience monitoring projects and collecting relevant data, preferred.
- Experience using MS Windows and MS Office packages (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Observation, active listening, and analysis skills with ability to make sound
- Good relationship management skills and the ability to work closely with local partners and community
- Attention to details, accuracy, and timeliness in executing assigned
- Proactive, results-oriented, and service-oriented
Required Languages – Written and spoken proficiency in English and Arabic required. Proficiency in Kurdish a plus
Travel -Position is based in Kirkuk, up to 80% travel (day trips) to project sites within Kirkuk governorate. plus, some travel to the project areas (Kirkuk, Duhok, Ninewa, Erbil, Fallujah).
Office Based- Applicant from Kirkuk are preferred to apply.

Internal: Direct supervisory: Education senior project officer, education Project Manager, field staff from other governorate teams, Kirkuk Head of Office, finance and admin staff, Deputy Head of Programs, Head of Programs
External: Partners including Caritas Iraq, local authorities including DOEs, coordination meetings, community leaders, Head Teachers and Teachers, other NGO and UN actors implementing education programs, Education Sub-National Cluster Lead.
