Duties

 

Internews has headquarters offices in Washington, DC and London, UK which support a hybrid workforce with staff working remotely, fully in-office, and partially remote. This is a fully remote position. Our ideal candidate is based in Washington, DC; London, UK; Mexico; or Costa Rica. Remote candidates based elsewhere in Central America will also be considered. Individuals must have work authorization in their current location that does not require sponsorship from Internews. Additionally, there are locations in which Internews is not able to support fully remote work.

This is a limited duration position, with an anticipated term of one year. This position may be extended.

 

 

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in International Relations, International Diplomacy, International Affairs, or equivalent lived/professional experience. 
• 10+ years programmatic experience in the Latin America region. 
• Outstanding written and oral English and Spanish skills, including project reporting and proposal writing. 
• Experience managing US Government grants. 
• Understanding of the human rights environment and network of stakeholders in Latin America and the Caribbean. 
• Experience living and/or working in the Latin America region. 
• Proven understanding of the political dynamics of working in sensitive countries in the Latin America region.
• Proven ability to form trust networks in-region to build partnerships, develop new projects, and implement and problem-solve with current and sensitive programs. 
• Proven capability to work in challenging environments where human rights issues impact projects. 
• Proven ability to lead or directly support creation or adaptation of communications solutions in Spanish language. 
• Outstanding ability to work with professionals from many disciplines: public/government, academic, private sector, NGOs, media, and journalists. 
• Ability to prioritize and handle multiple ongoing assignments. 
• Experience working and traveling in complex operational environments. 
• Outstanding analytical, problem-solving, and advisory skills.
