Description
Project Summary
The “Restoring Dignity” project is a response to the enduring consequences of prolonged conflict in the Nineveh region of Iraq, where war operations, military errors, and terrorist activities have left communities grappling with profound loss and trauma. This initiative recognizes the right to reparations as a critical component in the healing and rebuilding process but acknowledges the systemic challenges that hinder its effective implementation. Beyond a legalistic perspective, the project embraces the principles of transformative justice, aiming to go beyond financial compensation to restore dignity, safety, and security to survivors and affected individuals. Through evidence-based advocacy, community engagement, and collaboration with stakeholders, “Restoring Dignity” seeks to reduce extortion cases, promote reparation rights, and foster a sense of dignity among citizens engaged in the reparations process, contributing to lasting change in policies and practices related to reparations in Nineveh.
