About ECL

The Association of European Cancer Leagues (ECL) is the umbrella organisation of cancer leagues across the WHO European region and a driving force to advance cancer prevention, access to medicines and patient empowerment, as well as to influence EU health policies. Founded in 1980, ECL is a non-governmental, non-profit organisation, with a Secretariat based in Brussels.

Key responsibilities

As part of a motivated and impact-driven team, you will be working closely with Senior Cancer Control Officer, Senior Policy Officer and Policy Research and EU Projects Officer and will carry out a variety of tasks, including:

  • Working group coordination and capacity building: drive the work in Prevention & Early Detection Working Group (P&EDWG) and Patient Support Working Group (PSWG) by developing jointly an annual action plan and ensuring its implementation;
  • Advocacy and relationship building: monitor and analyse policy developments in relevant areas and lead on development and execution of respective advocacy plans, working together with members of the two working groups. Engage with key policymakers, industry, and non-governmental organisations to advocate for our key priority areas;
  • Project management: if needed, support EU Project Managers for drafting grant proposals to fund the activities foreseen for the areas of work and support the management of respective projects.

Who we are looking for

  • An advanced University degree in health promotion, public health, health economics, political science, or similar field;
  • At least 3 years of relevant experience, with an excellent knowledge of the EU policy-making process and sound experience in lobbying the EU institutions;
  • Excellent writing skills and good presentation skills;
  • Good understanding of EU health policy and commitment to reducing cancer burden across Europe;
  • Fluency in English is essential, additional European languages are an asset;
  • Strong networking, interpersonal and communication skills;
  • Solid organisational skills, capability to handle deadlines and ability to perform under pressure, team player.
